How do we know anything? The problem with this knowledge and understanding is that it has little or nothing to do with the physical realm. We live our day to day lives in a universe that comprises an infintesimaly small portion of the whole. One may be tempted to use such knowledge to personal gain but at the same time, that person must realize that such thoughts would be discounted as malignant or destructive in such a state of consciousness that is receptive to the "whole". Even if it were decided to use such limitless knowledge in the physical realm, it couldn't be brought back to any usefull ends besides a general insight as to how the universe functions. The most valuable thing one can bring back is the memory of emotions, feelings, and nirvana that is experienced from this link. The next most valuable thing would be life decisions and abstract conceptual imagery that changes thought patterns.

regarding chemical psychedelia:

well, time dilation, for one. you look at a clock or watch, and it seems like greek or sanscrit. time is irrelevant.

complete depersonalization too...you are no longer who you think you are in everyday life...and you either accept it, or freak out. You then tend to look at things in a holistic light, rather than subjectively. You notice the connection you have to everything around you, including empty space...everything vibrates, even empty space.

I've had experiences similar to what you are both talking about, and one in particular stays firm in my mind as what you could call a breakthrough or revelatory experience. Paradoxically, it was through disconnection that I was able to see how things connected most clearly. However, I still don't buy any explanation involving infinite or limitless knowledge. I just see it more as unadultered thought as well as a clearer sense of how things work and my place within that grand scheme. And you're right: we can't live as the whole, but we can learn from it.

"psychedelic" would be all of those and more. but in my mind I really think that there is no true definition of what it is. it is an experience that one personally feels.

what I'm trying to say is that I've had trips that I will never be able to describe in words that would make any sense at all. it's an experience that has to be experienced.
