They sell vinly cleaning solution and brushes at most record stores. Even a soft damp papertowel will do the trick also.

papertowel = adds more lint to it.

use grooveglide and a brush or cloth from the record store.

You can also preserve them by lightening the weight on your tonearm so the needle doesn't smooth out those grooves so quickly.

I use a very soft/fine bristeled (sp?) brush.....it's kinda small and takes a while to cover and entire record, but it does a great job

At the same time Ash, that kills a lot of sound quality and you can hear more pops. Not to mention, if the track isn't perfectly pressed, it will skip.

Some cons to add with the pros.

Hey--There's this dude that owns a record shop by my house n he has been collecting for years. I asked him what he uses to clean his records n he told me Windex n a REALLY soft cloth works perfectly. Just make sure you get all of the Windex off w/ a dry towel :)

UPS are bitches that way. They leave the packages at the door without even ringing the doorbell. They left my friends new imac sitting on the porch (the imac box has a picture of the computer on the outside). They have also left technics sitting there too. [/img][/u]

Gruv Glide from the very start works great. Prevention is the best cure. As an added measure, always wash your hands (with soap, not just water!) before playing. Oil from hands attracts unwanted dust and whatnot to your vinyl. That's the best overall habit you could have. Your vinyl archive will thank you. :plur:

UPS does how you tell them, if you CLEARLY mark on the package to not expose to heat or sunlight they wont (they cant, if they do you can have the pay for the records)

I use GrooveGlide.. Just dont use it everytime.. It can tear up a record..

If I have a warped record I place it between 2 heavy books, and bungee cord the thing together. I then place it in an empty draw with a blow dryer on warm/low. Close the draw and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Turn the dryer off, but leave the books still bungeed together in the draw and just let them cool off for about an hour or so. I seems to work for me.
