"The General Assembly would urge the Conference on Disarmament to agree on a programme of work that included the immediate commencement of negotiations on a fissile material cut-off treaty, according to one of threedrafts approved this morning by the First Committee (Disarmament and International Security).

That draft resolution was approved by a recorded vote of 147 in favour to 1 against (United States), with 2 abstentions (Israel, United Kingdom), as the Committee continued taking action on all draft resolutions and decisions. (For details of the vote, see Annex I.)

The Committee has organized its draft texts into subject “clusters”, and this morning it approved texts in its clusters on nuclear weapons, other disarmament measures, and international security."

They want to make it harder to buy and sell materials that can be used to make nukes and it looks like the countries that are reluctant to agree are The US, UK, and Isreal. Not real surprising when you consider that most of these materials come from US, UK, and Isreal.

that's what i thought they were saying, just upsets me that they phrase it so as to put off any laypersons from caring about it.

total hypocrism by the US govt. yet again.

we need to stop others from gaining the power to produce nukes-yet we have tons
we have a war on terrorism-yet we fund argueably the biggest terrorist state in the world; Israel
we go to war to oust our enemies w/ WMD's-yet the govt. supplies them with these weapons early on, when they're our allies, to benefit govt. agenda

again: madness!
