I've been using my 600w Aiwa shelf system (that I also use for surround sound on my TV)...but at my new apt, I have a little nook for my decks that's on the other end of the living room from my stereo...I figure this a good excuse to get a decent amp and speakers...any suggestions?

I don't need top of the line, expensive as hell stuff...just an amp that will push a decent set up speakers (I spin mostly hiphop/jungle so there's lots of bass)

thx

8) I'd have to say try QSC for your amp and Cerwin Vega for your speakers...I think this would probably be the best and most affordable...

Definitely go with QSC. I have a friend who owns an RMX1450 that has seen a lot of wear and abuse: cigarette smoke, fog, beer splatters, filthy house parties, even filthier warehouse parties, dropped twice, left in the trunk during cold Illinois winter, etc. Darn thing still keeps going and sounds as good as the day it came out of the box. 1400 watts @ 4 ohms bridged, 3 year warranty, extendable to 6 years. $399 retail.

Your going to laugh..

But.. At Mars they have a package deal for about 350-400$, it comes with a set of Gemini 12"s and a Gemini Amp. I use this in my apt. It will rock a small house party and the amp allows up to 4 speakers. I ended up getting another set of speakers from a pawn show for 70$ that work really well with the 2 12"s that it comes with. Its nice for an apt and its pretty compact. I'm very happy with my setup. I think they still call it "The Rock Box".. I've had *very* good luck with this small set up. I'll admit, it doesn't have some crazy solid bass.. But, loud bass will piss off the people that live around you..
