ok your going to have to clarify this a bit more. It sound intresting but what are you refering to as relative Chrisianity? What are you studying about St. Augustine of Hippo? What kind of ethics class is this?

Are you talking on his points of ethical theory like orignial sin? just war? Was it his DeHartian ethics? or where you discussing his doctrinal theory of Papal supremacy?

Here the teacher is expressing the ethically theory of St. Augustine. Now if you know he has questions about God. And then comes up with these ethical theories to prove what was questioned... that however was not the point.

The point was... there were avid Christians in the class arguing with the teacher as if what she was saying was completely ridiculous. Not to mention the Bible word was thrown around alot...

I just wanted to learn about St. Augustine and all his ethical theories but the whole lecture was interuppted by what some zealot Christians had to say...

and thanks Skot :silly:

I had similar experiences both in philosophy of religion and absurdly enough in intro to visual arts.

ah yes, It's funny that you mentioned zealot in there. I find that the ones who make the biggest fuss are the ones who know the least about that Bible word.
True scholars tend to bite their tongues more often.

One of my favorite things to say to people who spout off at an inappropiate time is

"Hey isn't James chapter 3 about controlling your tongue and say 'Not many of you should presume to be teachers'"

It either shuts them up or drives them into a rant. Either way it's really funny.
