Personally i dont like vocals in electronic music.. especially wailing women. And it kinda makes the music sound like mainstream dance music. What do you think?

i like vocal samples..like really dark sounding ones over drumandbass

has anyone heard that "1800contact" track? i forgot who its by.

"thou canst kill me"

its fuckin dark.

i like hip hop vocals over drumandbass.

female voices are ok singing sometimes...it depends on how its used.

i want drum and bass remixes of the old sneakerpimps CD...do they have those?

I love vocals..as long as they're not lame ass lyrics that don't make sense..

I suppose my love of vocals is basically rooted in the fact that I sing myself..so I have TONS of appreciation for vocal talent.

I <3 nice soft vocals w/ an interesting tone of edge. Some of my favorite tracks include male vocals. I think they they're great. : )

i like vocals, and i don't.

I can't stand "Castles Up My Ass" because the tired ass Lafayette club breaks scene has played it into oblivion.

I do, however, love "Running Down the Way Up" from BT and Hybrid, and other various Hybrid tracks including vocals from Julee Cruise (If I Survive, High Life, I Know). Also in this list is BT's "Never Gonna Come Back Down", featuring Michael Dougherty of Soul Coughing. (Hybrid's remix of this track, although it's a remix, also qualifies.) There are select others.

At the same time, I like limited vocals in an entire set. One or two tracks with vocal input are cool; a whole set of different people singing is not. A lot of times when a DJ tries to do this, the songs are in two different keys which when combined during a mix create an awful dissonance. Also the voices are so different from each other that, even though the mix may be on point, the vocal clash is enough to imply a bad mix.

Vox are cool if they're handled right. Check out Robert Miles circa "Dreamland" for a good example of how vocals can really enhance a track. DJ Quiksilver's use of the Gregorian chants on some of his tracks are cool too.

BUT IF IT'S THAT DAMN 'DAYS GO BY' SONG I THINK THEY SHOULD BE REMOVED.

Sometimes, vocals just don't work. :plur:

personally - i perfer samples and such - full on vocals i avoid mostly - save for a few "special" tracks that i manage to drown most of them out with eq work. full vocals get too cheasy too quick - and the novelty of female vocals blaring over trance wore off in 1999.

i like "Remember". although a friend of mine made the mistake of making it a song for a relationship that lasted like three weeks...so now she can't really listen to it. (well, that and her CD was stolen :2up: but technicalities be what they may...)
