This is a great topic. The thing that has helped me stay out of the friends zone is soon after you have met her, you need to let her know through flattery or straight up in her face words that you are attracted to her and you do not want her to just toss you in the guy friends pile. This will immediately escallate the situation to a point where she will have to decide quickly and on the spot whether or now she would want to be romantically involved with you. Read her body language when you do this. She will then either give you the subtle girl signs that she likes you flirting with her and its ok to move in closer. If she isn't interested, she again will give you the subtle girl signs that you need to back off.

Over all, this will save you tons of time and effort. If you aren't intested in yet another female friend, then blow her off. Chances are, she might decide in a while, once you quit giving her attention, that maybe she did enjoy you showering her with attention and will change her signs to indicate, you can move in a little closer.

I live w/ this guy who was my friend first, then he moved in to be my roomate because I needed one....we started to "hook up" and he tells me he doesn't want to see anybody else BUT he won't ever take me out on a date.

well the problem with len's advice is,

maybe i dont KNOW right off the bat if i want to be more than friends with said chick!! ive had SEVERAL relationships gone bad from hasty decisions as such....

and plastech, i cant think of putting it any other way, but that guy seems like a jerk. he wants the booty, but is somehow not liking you enough to show affection in public = JUST WANTS ASS.

and i mean, sometimes that arrangement can be good and fine, but if you want anything more from that guy, i dont think youre going to get it :-\

i know that like 98% of the time, if im liking a girl enough to sleep with her, im liking her enough to do nice things for her at least some of the rest of the time. the other 2% of the time im drunk. lol

dont' you mean you don't know right off the bat if this chick wants to be more than friends with you? there is a fundamental differnecne in how we view relationships right there, in your model you are thinking Do I have feelings for her? In the other model, I am thinking does she have feelings for me? you're right, then...Len's advice applies more to my model, in the situation where it puts the girl on the spot to decide and communicate her decision.

see... i want to take my happy time deciding what i want, and have a free invitation to come take it when i decide.

altho i cant tell ya what it is....u dont want to go after gurls who put you in the friend zone...there are far too many girls out there to just settle for one that doesnt even consider you as "doable" or even tolerable enough to stay with for the rest of her life...
another thing to remember....this is a rule to live by...

thats just from experience...on my part and from what i have seen other friends go thru...never date a stripper...she will eventually try to stab you...and thats just ONE of the problems w/ em..im not even gonna get into the rest...lol...

eventually a girl will find you...thats thewhole trick...you can not LOOK so to speak or else you will always land up in that stupid friend zone...you act too reliable and they will take advantage of you and try to have their cake and eat it too...its human nature to always want what you can not have.....

being in a relationship as MORE THAN FRIENDS takes a lot out of a person when it goes unexpectedly wrong...especially when things were going SO RIGHT or at least so YOU think...dont stress it jeremy...the friend zone isnt all that bad...if you play your cards right you end up WITH BENEFITS!! and that comes w/o all the strings of an official relationship...none of the "WHERE ARE YOU??, WHEN ARE U COMING HOME?? WHO ARE YOU WITH?? WHY H AVENT U CALLED ME IN THE LAST 5 MINUTES?"

if a gurl wants to be equals with me...then we're talkin business...ive got my degree, ive got my hobby....but its gonna take a long time for me to find love again....the only types of ladies i have come across are the ones that want to be an "engineers wife"...u know...shop w/ all MY money...lol...even tho im still lookin for a job, EVENTUALLY im gonna find one...and THEY seem to know that too...lol....i will love when i can be appreciated for my personality...not the piece of paper hanging on my wall...
