The places I frequent:
* starbucks: sure the coffees not that good, and it's overpriced, but it is sort of on my way to work. I dont like their espresso, but the americano isn't bad. (c-)
* texpresso: their espresso is some deadly stuff. (b+)
* ruta maya: downtown, open late, I can get some smokes and a coffee before heading to a club. (a-)

spider house tops it. lots of artsy fartsy types but very casual and an excellent place to study when it's not too hot or too cold.
