Take this survey.

http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/wallercreek/survey.cfm

It's about all the changes that they want to make to the Waller Creek area that ranges from Waterloo Park- to "Lady Bird" Lake.
The Red River district is completely included in that area.

DO IT

kthx :D

yeah i did this a couple days ago. most of the answers are basically geared so they can use the results to show a "need" for the change anyway.

either way, i'll be upset if my haven is taken away.

I heard an interview with Will Winn. He was saying that it was only going to make it better down there and nothing was going to happen to the venues down there. He said it would be stupid to mess up the venues because they where needed and, "Really what would Austin be with out Stubbs and the rest of the clubs on Red River."

part of the plan is to build a tunnel, and it looks like that tunnel will go through clubs/venues that are there right now.
not just the part of making it bullshit "touristy" like the riverwalk in san antonio, but wanting to make the noise ordinace a big ordeal.
especially with all those residental condos going up. it's all bullshit.
will wynn can suck it. :finger:

Dirty? shit.. most of those places are old.. fuck.. just cause a venue or bar shuts down for a week to repaint, and hang a new sign doesn't mean the place itself is new. most have the same shitty sound systems, same shitty help, same shitty managers and same shitty additue with a high bar tab. If im gonna pay money for something.. it better be worth it.

I currently kick it at work and at home because hanging out in a shit hole doesn't appeal to me.

hmmm...mohawk, deville, 710, side bar, a little place called emos, plush, beauty bar, casino el camino, creekside lounge

all great places to hang out and devoid of any shit-like qualities. were you, like, assraped downtown or is there some other back story we should know about that's clouding your judgement? :badteeth:

That sounds to me like the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard.
I guess it's been a while since you've been in the area.

Except Elysium. But my only complaint is the bathroom. Not. pleasant. But everywhere else I enjoy the nightlife I love and only spend maybe 10 bucks.

And I certainly don't need some place that has all white interior, waterfalls, upscaley bullshit, or sharks in the floor, along with the waaay over priced drinks. Nor do i need a bar that plays kid rock every night or a place where I have to fight off every frat daddy, dude brah, and so on, to keep from drunkenly hitting on me.
Give me a nice bar, with a good jukebox, a table to sit at to bullshit with friends, and the strongest drinks I've ever had.
I get that all in that area.

So you have fun at home, and I'll have fun all along Red River. Kthx.

people that generally stay away from downtown should have the least say in the matter lol

Most of the drinks that get bought for me are from my girl friends. So my boobs are irrelevant. That and being friends with the bartenders. :plur:

I'm not talking about the above either.. but still most of those places are dirty holes.. However, I work way to much to go downtown to some shit hole and have to worry about parking, and worry about some drunk bitch spilling her drink on me. I'll be honest.. My time is limited, and I'd rather not waste it on something I just don't like. Perhaps as I'm getting older I'm realizing that I *hate* hanging out with children that can't contain or behave themselves... and fuck.. I work on 6th street and can walk to any of the above places when I get out.

Want some bad ass places? Opals up North, Iron Cactus up north, and Trudys North = awesome. Clean, friendly staff, cheap drinks, and bad ass outside seating + food = awesome.

some of those places are pretty cool, plush being one of them.. But plush is an experience and you know what your getting when you go there.. ie, the bathroom.

Never really had anything bad happen to me, other then a club owner threating to stuff me in a dumpster while handing out flyers 200yards from his club while on a bunch of mushrooms. I guess I've had my fun downtown and I've just moved onto other things.

I loathe the clientele at the places you venture to. a] Hate Trudy's food, except the stuffed avacado. That's alright.
Iron Cactus- filled with white collared dell-like people. Don't care.
I like Opals [south], but I'd rather hang out in a dive bar. Just because it seems seedy, doesn't make it dirty.

And with your response to Dave's comment about people who don't venture to the area shouldn't have a say in it, it's not ignorant, its true. You don't go to the area, so you really don't know what is there or is lacking. So, your opinion is null and void on the matter.

Change is inevitable, deal with it. I don't think that the Waller Creek TUNNEL will displace all that many above ground venues, like Stubbs, Elysium, Plush etc. Maybe there's something about tunnels I don't know about, like the above ground kind. Anyway, shit's gonna happen whether you like it or not, so if you're against the plan, go down there and party like a rockstar for as long as you can so you can tell your kids kids how you jammed with the best of the best and got all the cheap drinks/friendly conversation you could handle. If you're for the plan and think the shithole will be improved and cleaned up by said plan, move into one of the luxury condos that will soon be available at the expense of most of the live music venues in the area that play music louder than say, 10db. That's pretty much anyone with a car stereo for the ill informed. See you master debaters later, mmmkay. :slayer:
