Working on my first Vista. Downloaded AVG and Adaware and for some reason no search engines work. Yahoo, Google, etc...

Could this because of a file I deleted while running a spyware removal ?

when you say no search engines works do you mean you can't get to them or you can get to them but when you search nothing happens?

if the first, open up a command prompt and ping one of the search engines. what IP does it resolve to? if it doesn't resolve to an IP, what happens?

the second. i pull up search engines, run a search and nothing happens.

Does it return no results? Or does it load a blank page?

sounds like you got a redirect going on.. have you run adaware, spybot and hijackthis lately?
