this is the bane of my computer's existence at the moment. i got this last night and its fucking me hardcore at the moment. bitdefender picks it up and says it blocks it, but as soon as i click okay on that popup from bitdefender, i lose the taskbar, and all icons from the desktop.

i posted more of the specifics here in the bitdefender help forum:
http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=5333

there are a lot of topics about this on there, and no one seems to be saying that their problem was solved. if you can make this go away, there is a case of beer in it for you.

try housecall.trendmicro.com first, if that doesn't work google Bart PE, make a BPE disc w/ a virus scan on it, boot from it and run the scan.

so the trend micro scan ran for the long ass time, but the status bar never completed itself, even when the time reduced itself to zero. i can click on the results page, and i can see that it has identified the virus, but it has radio buttons for what to do to it, and no where to click to make the action selected take place.

i started to look into that bart pe stuff but the pages i went to from google mainly went right over my head. i fail at in depth software problems/solutions. is there a non techy way of instructing me how to create it and put a virus scan on there? if not, and you can somehow do it, the beer offer still stands. or money if you prefer that and it will most definitely absolve you from further anti-semitic comments.

it looks like all the AV plugins for Bart PE are old and out of date. You'd be better off installing AVG and running it in safe mode.

Get rid of Bitdefender.

NOD32 + Sunbelt Personal Firewall = no problems

The sdatXXXX.exe? I just downloaded it 2 nights ago making a new BartPE image. It's still on the FTP and updated regularly they've just moved it around. It's not located in the same place it used to be.

Spent all night the other night writing plugins for tools for overclocking (CPU-Z, Everest, and Prime95). Writing the plugin configs wasn't that difficult. Getting BartPE to recognize the 2nd core of a dual core machine however was a different story.
