why did you put "ableton live" in quotes?

that makes no sense whatsoever.

and is it all strictly ableton, vsts, and samples? or are you running ableton as a host and using other progs also?

Yeah man, listening to "Livin in 3D" right now, it's quite a nice track. Has elements of prog, electro and trance in it, which is cool as it sort of defies genre. Too bad we can't throw "genre" out the window, and get away from the "this track is this specific type of sound". If it's got a good flow, a funky groove, depth and some melodies in it (or not) let's just call it good edm, or just plain old good music. I'd settle for that but I suppose for sales purposes, we'll always have to have these damn classifications. I'm liking "Trick O Lite" quite a lot also, hearing it for the first time now. Ciao. :slayer:

actual correct classifacations are important because in the current state of things it makes sense for someone who produced a trancey track to just go ahead and call/mislabel it electro because they'll get a shit-ton more listens for purchase that way. it's a smart business move on their part really.

You're saying it's a smart move on the producers part to call/mislabel a trancey track as electro to grab more listens if I read this correctly? While doing so probably is a good move to get those listens, I wouldn't consider that an "actual correct classification" due to the track not being the actual correct classification if it's trance labeled as electro. Hence why I think it sucks that we're so tied to "genre" vs just good music.
People flocking to listen to electro only because it's the hot topic of the moment and not browsing all the sections of the distro sites to find good tracks of all styles is exactly what I was referring to. Where's the diversity?? It's the same mentality that has afflicted and ruined the overall quality of pretty much all genres of music with all the copycat crap producers trying to cash in and make a quick buck sounding just like the latest hot producer, Deadmau5 for instance.
Anyway, Anominiss good work on the tracks m8. I'm not gonna tie up your thread with a debate about genre anymore. See ya around dude.
