So I ordered my Inspiron 1420 with the bare minimum RAM and bought 4GB of Patriot Notebook RAM for $75 or so from Fry's as opposed to paying $400 for 4GB of RAM from Dell. I read a walkthrough on how to replace the RAM on a 1420, but I don't really trust myself with the task.

Can anyone recommend a place I can take it to for installation?

if you ever come out to the Saucer on a Monday again I'll do it for you right there for a beer or 2.

Dude, I still owe you some beers for that XP OEM disc...that bastard worked wonders!!!

@ Shaney Shane: It looked simple enough to replace one of the DIMMs, but you have to remove the keyboard to get to the other one.

Dell's service manual says that both DIMMs are accessible from the bottom

Yeh thats the only thing that sucks about most Dells. The under the keyboard Ram is a bitch.

I just dont feel like screwing with it at that point.

Ram's probably the easiest thing to install on your computer, hardware wise. My friend told me that Geek Squad charges $50 and they will do it for you.

Congrats man on the new laptop. I got my new computer 2 weekends ago.
