Republican party = Conservative
Opposite of conservative != Libertarian

Isn't that what Dom said in the first place?

No, Dom was trying to suggest that Ron Paul's viewpoints were the opposite of his party (Republican) which isn't the case. Ron Paul's viewpoints are essentially Libertarian.

To me, Dom is saying that it's the people on the opposite end of the republican spectrum that are wanting to vote for him........no?

This negates the whole
Republican party = Conservative
Opposite of conservative != Libertarian

You said essentially he's libertarian (which is opposite of Republican) then said Dom was wrong for the same statement??

Or did I just take a stupid pill today?

No, I said that Libertarians are not the opposite of Republicans. They're adjacent. Hence the picture ;-)

personally, i think defining your beliefs based on what section of a chart you fit in is absurd anyway... not saying anyone here is guilty of that, but many people are.

It's just demographics, which is basically a big word for stereotypes.

A lot of Ron Paul signs are in places where it's illegal to post signs. Closer to the election, we might see them taken down. In San Antonio, it's to the point of vandalism.

He has some good ideas, and if this were 2000, I'd probably vote for him. Since then, events have happened and reactions to the events have happened, and I don't think he'll be able to erase the past 6 years as well as someone else.

It's the events that have happened since 2000 that have allowed a candidate like Ron Paul to stand a chance in the 2008 election. If this was 2000, I don't think people would respond to his message the same way. People are listening now.

I am surprised at how many supporters rally behind Ron Paul, but I'm even more surprised at the number of people who I thought would rally behind him, and for reasons unknown, do not.

The reason why you don't see him on TV is that the corporate media won't have it. If they had their way, he would just go away, but that's not going to happen.

Quote:
Austin, TX – Several hundred Ron Paul Revolution grassroots volunteers will celebrate the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party (Dec 16th, 1773) this Sunday (16-Dec-07) by throwing boxes into Town Lake (see photo).

WHAT: Ron Paul Revolution march with Re-enactment of Boston Tea Party

WHEN: Dec 16th, 4:00 PM

WHERE: Auditorium Shores, just west of 1st Street bridge

WHY: Celebrate the spirit of American Freedom with Presidential candidate Ron Paul's message

Complete schedule of events:

3:00 Rally at Austin Capital; remarks by Ron Paul Revolution meet-up leaders

3:30 March down Congress Ave. to Auditorium Shores
4:00 Re-enactment of Boston Tea Party, "tea" boxes thrown into river, 18 century patriot figures

4:30 Ron Paul Revolution members available for interview

5:00 Group Disbands

Also, the same day Ron Paul supporters are going to try to break the record they set last month for contributions in a single day. Last month was $4 million. This time they are shooting for $10 million. I'll probably throw them a few dollars. If you want to help, just go to http://www.ronpaul2008.com

Looks like Planet K is supporting him as well.
I've seen large Ron Paul signs at all of their locations.

FOX news is excluding Ron Paul from the Republican debates days before the first primary. Although Paul has raised $20 million in the fourth quarter, Fox News' reasoning for not inviting Dr. Paul is due to Paul's single digit poll numbers.

Quote:
Of the other Republican candidates, only Mike Huckabee – who reported $5.04 million this quarter – discloses his fundraising total online. However, Dr. Paul’s total is over $9 million more than any Republican candidate raised in the third quarter.
