They did it with Butterfly Effect, and now they're doing it with 1408. What's up with realistic and creative endings being replaced with cheesy, sugar coated endings? People are either too easily offended or it sells better if the story makes one feel warm and fuzzy, or sadly it may be both. 1408 is one of Stephen King's best movies (aside from Shining and Dreamcatcher). I just hope I can find the dvd with the ending I saw in the theatre.
So much for originality and creativity.

Now that I look into it, the alternate endings will be included on the dvd. Apparently, it was changed because audiences thought it was too much of a "downer". Whatever.

Stephen King wrote the novels and short story that the movies were based on. he had nothing to do with the actual movies themselves.
1408 was a crap movie and if you read the short story you'll agree.
BTW most movies have multiple endings, it's just the way the movie industry works.
