I'm always iffy about upgrading any computer part or buying a notebook, because technology tends to change really really fast now, but I know I'm going to need it. I'm already hitting a wall with my PC, and rather than upgrade to a new PC, I want an iMac, but I'm not sure when I should get one. So the first two options are...

ONE. Should I wait for technology to increase and/or price to decrease (in other words, are there going to be major developments that I'm going to want to wait for / are there current technologies that are going to become more affordable)?

TWO. Should I jump on a good deal this winter?

If option ONE...

ONE-A. Should I get something affordable and medium-end to hold me over till I do make the iMac purchase?

ONE-B. Make due with this shit ass PC of mine?

With this mentallity you'll never purchase because there is always "something bigger better faster smaller" around the corner.

Just pick up the best system you can purchase with your money now and cry to us all in six weeks when they release a system twice as fast -- just like the rest of us.

you can get refurbed 20" iMacs for just over a grand

I'd save your money and buy the iMac when you can afford it.

macs hold their value really well so even if something did come out in the next 6 weeks, if you want, you can sell the one you just bought and upgrade. the only thing i would wait for if youre going to get a mac is the release of osx leapord which comes out in october.

if you already have a decent monitor you could always go with a mac mini. they cost $600 and $800
