Man I just had the greatest weekend. It was one of those experiences that makes you remember what life is all about.

I spent all weekend with my dad, which is an experience in itself. I was surrounded by family friends and acquaintances I grew up racing motocross and cross country with. It was like a weekend walk down memory lane; so many adventures I (the drugs) had completely erased from my memory.

To top it all off, this evening I got to sit down and eat some bbq with my heroes. It was totally surreal, swapping stories with the guys I watch on tv every weekend.

Knowing where I want to go in life has made me happy. Remembering where I've been this weekend made me feel whole.

Isn't it fun to take a step back towards reality sometimes and see where you used to be? I know when I look back on what I was doing 8-10 years ago and the people I was hanging out with, I realize that I'm a COMPLETELY different person than I was back then.

It is fun to go back and revisit those times every once in awhile though.

I met quite a few of the riders on the day before the event while we were watching practice. Grant Langston (in the picture above), Andrew Short, saw Kevin Windham for the first time since I broke his foot almost a decade ago.

Sunday evening after the races we were grabbing some spare tires out of the pits and a guy we ride with invited us to go get some BBQ with the entire Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team. Monster/Pro Circuit has been dominating the motorcross lites division, with riders in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the points standings. So I got to meet and talk with Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley while we got our bbq on. Villopoto is going to be the next motocross superstar, this kid is infinitely talented.

Accidentally.

When I was 13 or so I was practicing at Lake Whitney for the amateur national on my 80cc bike. I pulled onto the course for the first time and got turned around, running backwards on the track. We collided on a sweeper and he fractured his foot.

Oh okay. I wasn't sure if that was a typo when I read it the first time. Was he the only one injured in that accident?

Well, I felt like a giant douchebag afterwards, if you consider that an injury. He continued racing with his broken foot. You can't stop Red Dog.

Well at least you didn't cause him a career ending injury or something. It could've been a helluva lot worse.
