i donno man. i just like the mixing style on that disc a lot. i really dig some of the tracks too, and have never heard any of them anywhere else (i guess thats not much to say...)

for some reason i thought this guy was a household name for house enthusiasts, and was wondering why i cant find anything about him on the net, soulseek, etc. maybe thats not the case

Nope, you've got that right. If memory serves me correct (and my poor brain has been abused sooo many times) then this supa dj dmitry was once part of an incredibly influential group, deee lite. He, along with towa tei and lady miss kier, were the three founding members and were later joined by dj ani. I got to see them on tour out in hawaii, both nights, back in the early '90s. Fun times...

Correct. Deee Lite as in "Groove Is In The Heart". He has progressed to a harder darker sound which sounds nothing like Dee Lite. Good shit.

I saw Dee-Lite in Hawaii in the early 90's also, can't remember the name of the club down the street from the college....It would have been 94 maybe? Just remember Lady Kier holding up a hit of MDMA someone from the crowd handed her and she mentioned that it was illegal so she would save it until after the show.

That's the one!
I remember that, too. Actually, what had happened was that one of her dancers/performers allowed an audience member to wear a pair of sunglasses. When the shades didn't come back, she stopped the show and asked for them. I think they turned the lights down at her request? She said she was gonna count to ten, held out her hand, and lo & behold --- a hit of e appears.

Small friggin' world...

(and the club was opened by peter b. after the garage shut down. I was there every weekend. maybe we crossed paths?)

Did you ever go to the Sub Club? They renamed it to Euphoria or something.

hard to describe... definitely house though. through the middle it starts to resemble techno a bit, but by the end its clearly funky/percussive house.

dom posted the tracklisting (not complete) from amazon.

any still alive? this thread is old... but

super/supa dmitry is the king of freakin hot dj sets, he's been tearing up the dance floor for over a decade now rocking a many dance floors. supa dj for a reason as the man is fly. will mix twenty records in 2 minutes, all on the 64 measure. cat knows how to sample. funky beats and is simply groovin. he turned me on reggaeton... mixed some nancy sinatra with a really hot dancehall beat on underground mixtape "trippin the love funktastik" and later on the tape he spoofed America's Most Wanted, was funny... I need this tape again, upload it!

As deee-lite dj... lol, groove in the heart was their "radio/mtv song" and made them the money. Again, god bless. But was that there sound, not really. I got to say, them live was funky-monkey, lil miss kier would shake her junk all across the dance floor, they travelled with G.Clinton's musicians, enuffsaid. They had a "soundsystem" - was funky shit tearing-up-clubs early ninties.

So you know - supa dmitry has rocked many a concerts w/ deee-lite, him being deeee-lite's main dj... along with o-ne/ani who helped with their the last album - dew drops - towa tei on production, kier on vocals. on-e was with - for the final tour and was part of the groups huge party on a mountain top.

On-e/Ani was a hip-hop oriented house dj w/ scratch tendencies... circa ~94. Post deee-lite he tore it up on all kinds of genres - his jungle shit kills - check out the nyc smile label for his jungle love. word. i caught on-e (and supa dmitry) in b'more ~russell street prox near some railroad tracks in a warehouse that went club many years ago, on-e scratched some craziness to eye-of the tiger samples. hands down, money. His later dj sets moved more into hiphop which were just as dope.

Upload his djsets. bit torrent for the masses - public domain - fuck them. There's one mix with J.Brown/Tribe:Applebaum/Jungle King Theme/Sarah McCallan... a fav that has been lost, plz someone digitalize. this is lost art and is public domain. for the masses.

It seems bit torrent is the way as downloads get you targeted. Damn
I removed content due to home page and edited with rant at end

dude i saw DJ Dmitri, Andy Hughes from the ORB was supposed to be there. But I did however see a Live PA set from Bruno B and DJ sia or something. Anyway the Bruno B Set Fucking rocked. It was like techno with alot of drum rolls. DJ Dmitri rocked too.

definetly a cool night, thats back when Hyperia was thugging it.

but yes it is the groove is in the heart from Dee-lite dude.

speaking of fucking sexy, what ever happened to that girl.
