Quote:
ORLANDO, Fla. - Could there be a third President Bush? The current chief said Wednesday that younger brother Jeb would make a great one, too, and has asked him about making a run. The first President Bush likes the idea as well. Jeb Bush, the Republican governor of Florida, has one asset that his presidential brother doesn't right now ? approval from most of his constituents. While George W. Bush's approval ratings are in the low 30s, some 55 percent of Florida voters surveyed last month by Quinnipiac University said Jeb was doing a good job.

if another Bush is in the White House before a minority, I'm going to assume the 30 degree vomit position.

lol at 30 degree vomit position!

though jeb has 55% support in florida, im sure his support across the nation is lower. he's guilty by association.

another thought: our country's population is nearly 300 million. what are the chances that two people in the same family are the best people to be president? what are the chances of three people in the same family? id call that aristocracy, not oligarchy

It takes more than one person to run for president.

Because more than just the Bush family is in charge here, it's not an aristocracy.

I'm sure you were just joking though.

oligarchy = rule of the few

aristocracy = not necessarily rule of the few, but rule by the privileged

i wasnt commenting on the amount of people who run this country, but the type of people who run it. it is highly unlikely the best possible president for two different terms (especially successive terms) would come from the same family, suggesting that there is a certain type of person required to become president

im not sure if we disagree here or not. my guess is not though. you mention the word 'family', but i associate that word with monarchy, not aristocracy

Oligarchy - Government by a few, especially by a small faction of persons or families.

ah, word

i was using this, which only mentions the word family once. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=de ... gle+Search

i guess your reference is better though. for a monarchy, though the word family is not used in the definition, it is uncommon for successive rulers to be of different blood. anyhow, carry on

Yes, another Bush in the White House. And then another. And then another. And before you know it, Bush blood is considered royal and they have a coronation ceremony. PASS.
