if you do reply to a spam thread you run the risk of your IP accidentily being banned. Like the user Mine's IP was banned this morning for a few minutes until I realized in my hangover stupor that I clicked the wrong 'IP' icon and had copied and pasted the wrong IP to the ban IP table.

lucky for Mine I took a sip of my yummy yuppie sell out coffee and it woke me up enough to double check the IP I banned.
