Access Powercore (Requires off-board DSP Card)
Spectrasonics Trillogy

Either of those should sort you out. =)

I don't produce DnB but I've always thought the Access Virus makes those sounds pretty easily.

There are VST's out there that won't run on a Standard Audio Card DSP (Even if you have a professional grade audio card.) Instead, there are PCI DSP Cards that are used to power these VST's. Really nice 'cause the processing is done on the card resulting in low latency audio that doesn't drain a whole lot of CPU. The Virus engine is very complex, thus it requires the above 'Powercore Synth' portion of that VST Card.

i used to do that until i figured out exactly how much quality is missing in the result of that method.

fruity = shit (asidefrom a midi brain )

make your own reece sounds with synths.

It all depends what level of production quality you're looking for... listen to JJ if you've got some $$ to burn. Ommy makes good points too (which is given, I'd think). If you want to get technical, start with a few sawwave oscillators, detune them a little, and add some low-freq eq and chorus. Detuning the oscillators (or introducing an LFO) will give you the wobble of which you speak. If you're not getting the reeeeally low kinda shit you were wanting, try low tones based on sine-waves.

fl is actually not that bad of a program...i have a butt load of reece synths and bass sounds.....the quality isn't bad either.....yes having your own gear is nice, money is an issue.....reason can can make those sounds all day as well...i say play with what u got......and plus it's all in the EQing and compressors.......i've heard some stuff that people use on hardware and it don't sound ne better than software...

I bet nobody but Omcreator could tell the difference in something made RIGHT with fruity and anything else, FLStudio 4 has a 100% pro-grade engine now.

I personally know at least 2 internationally signed producers that work strictly in FLStudio.... and they have told me a LOT more of the big dogs use it than everyone would like to think.

FL has a stigmatism of being 'Low Grade' which -really- isn't the case. People get way to caught up in the idea that the software will make the music...

There was a great article in this month's Mixer about Sasha's new CD 'Involver.'

Sasha builds his drum 'sounds' in NI Battery... Once that's completed, they are rendered and arranged using Reason (You heard me right) rewired into Logic. The mastering happens in Pro Tools.

It all boils down to what works for you. I'd say that 90% of the shoddy sounds you hear in amature tracks are -not- due to a quality issue in the sequencer, but rather a lack of understanding on how to to use the equipment properly. Take some time and -learn- all of the in's and out's of your software / hardware suite. Don't get in the habit of saying, "My track doesn't sound good because I don't have XXX program." That's a great way to burn a whole lot of money and never get anything accomplished.

There are plenty of artists out there that make entire tracks with one or two pieces of gear. Start small, and slowly add to your collection.

I would stick with reaktor if you want your' bass riffs to be pristinely tweeked out and clean sounding. Build your own synth and make it doe EXACTLY what you want. If you aren't well versed in reaktor, expect it to take a while to get the hang of it but the end results will be far better. I'm yet to put together a good reaktor synth, but I've managed to put together some unrefined ones that have a pretty impressive bump and that's with an onboard sound card and shitty speakers.

atmosphere, trilogy, v-station , and the new korg synths especially kick ass as well.

sometimes the sound of a shitty synth through a shitty laptop run through a distorion pedal is lovely.
