meth isn't the devil, anymore than a bottle of JD sitting on the table is; it's not going to just jump into your system.
problem is, many people let themselves get carried away with the euphoria that results from stimulating the pleasure response feedback loop in the dopamine system, that they convince themselves that they really need a particular substance to be happy; some people carry this to a point where it goes beyond psychological, and the said system is rewired, and the body responds accordingly.
side note: some psychedelics, like Ibogaine, are reputed to block that feedback loop, thus breaking addictions.
i view habitual meth users in the same light i view habitual marijuana users.
meth hurts your body more with habit, but in my eyes theres no difference in the person. if you make a habit of using, and do not have the willpower or control to put the shit down, you are worthless.

Meth initiates a much more profound change in brain/body chemistry than marijuana. Someone who has used meth for long periods in time will experience permanent changes in the workings of their brain chemistry. Such is not the case with marijuana. Its effects reverse with time. This makes marijuana much easier to put down, as I do from time to time. I don't view a marijuana user with any more disdain than I do a drinker, or a cigarette smoker (yeah, I do all that, in moderation. The only one I have trouble putting down is cigarettes.)
Also, tweakers will, after extended usage, get the classic 'delusions of grandeur' effect. That shit can be annoying as hell. Let's just say I have a ton of freaky tweaker stories, and no freaky pothead stories...and I hang out with potheads all the time, and very rarely am I around people doing meth.
