My concern lies more with the people that inhabit this country than the flag that represents our government. Adding a constitutional prohibition to burning/desecrating the flag would only weaken the very ideals it supposedly represents.

Isn't there something in Christian doctrine against false idols? Wouldn't worshipping a piece of cloth fall under this category? Accept it. Establishing a set of rules around a piece of fabric lives right next door to worship.
