I Agree that both sides have major flaws and have justifications for their respective actions, but the Palestinians are getting the overall shaft.
The "wall" they are constructing is going to make the Berlin Wall look like a chain link fence. It all depends on how they separate the property. This seperation will be the key to any kind of peace in the area.
If they Israelis get their way and truly isolate the Gaza strip and further hinder the Palestnians' lively hood ....just wait ..... the chaos that will ensue will be at a level of mythic porportions.
This is nothing like the Berlin wall...
In fact it is kind of the opposite.
Berlin wall was to keep you in like in jail...
Israelis wall is to keep you out. No you can not come to our country, but you are free to go anywhere else you please... with all the square km in the world they are only not allowed in about what a couple of hundred...
Diddums.
Gaza is connected to Egypt, the Palestinians are connected to Egyptians... why is this like the Berlin wall?
West bank is connected to Jordan... again how is this like Berlin?
And the reason the Palestinian refugees are treated like 2nd class citizens is that they are. Point in fact. Not because they are Palestinians, but because they are not citizens. This is not because they are Arab, Muslim or anything like that it is because they are not part of the country we are talking about.
And again I will point out to illustrate my point... 20% of voting Israelis are Arab.
In 1948 the ones that wanted to stay in peace where given citizenship. Those that sided with the Arab armies with hopes of the Jews losing and getting it all, they lost.
Big time.
I too have been to Israel and the west bank and the Golan Heights...
And yes the camps are awful, truly.
But whose fault is that?
Arafat collects approx 72 million dollars in income taxes a year from his people (15% from 150,000 working people), and was given if I remember correctly 6 or 7 billion $$$ (out of 15 promised) from the Arab countries as aid, and almost none of it was accounted for and no more money was sent.... and that’s without the EU aid and the USA...
Hmmm... maybe that shipment of weapons from Iran...

Thursday In the Red Sea, Israeli officials intercept the Karine A, a ship reportedly carrying 50 tons of weapons. The ship is seized off the coast of Saudi Arabia and brought to the southern Israeli port of Eilat. Israel Defense Forces report that the Karine A is carrying weaponry and ammunition, including Katyusha rockets, rifles, mortar shells, mines and a variety of anti-tank missiles. IDF reports the ship's captain is an officer in the Palestinian naval police, and that the shipment came from Iran.
Or maybe...

Experts estimate that the $1.3 billion Arafat controls could feed three million Palestinians for a year, buy 1,000 mobile intensive-care units, fund ten hospitals for a decade, and still leave $585 million to fund other social projects.
