for anyone interested in learning more about the risks of MDMA use, if you e-mail me at psychedevil@hotmail.com, then I can send you a copy of an article that I revised down to 40 pages from my undergraduate honors thesis (the article is updated till the beginning of 2003); my thesis was named "The Effects of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine on the Brain and Their Permanence," but I have simply titled the article "A Closer Look at MDMA"

haha...you and I used to have debates on RU; but I know you've done your homework on the subject.

:beers:

i've done mine on many of the other psychs.

it's refreshing to see someone else who knows what they're talking about.

yup, http://www.maps.org is the best site for research on MDMA...closely followed by http://www.erowid.org, which is the best for finding info on all substances

we surely did have our debates...initially very heated...but then, when you get to know someone better, you realize that there is sometimes more to be respected in their knowledge, even if in opposition, than there is to be disliked

precisely; we argued about stuff that's probably speculative at best; so many studies are still inconclusive, but that didn't stop us from speculating, and forming opinions.

unfortunately, on this board, there are some that judge you by your opinions; they think that's who you are, the shallow SOBs

oh, by the way, for anyone interested in the article I mentioned, this article contains a brief history of MDMA, studies in rats, studies in primates, a section on MDMA's course of action in the brain, retrospective studies of Ecstasy users (including brain imaging), and finally, prospective studies of clinical trials using MDMA that have been held in Switzerland

I was surprised to see this thread still on the first page...but related to the article I mentioned, I just found out that a manuscript I sent in is going to be published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs! The name of the manuscript is "A Clinical Crossroads For MDMA," and it is a revised and updated section of the aforementioned article. Both the larger article and the manuscript that is going to be published were extensions of my undergraduate Honors thesis on MDMA. Since this was mostly the result of my undergraduate research, and I am now only in my second semester in a masters program in experimental psychology, a publication at this point is especially exciting. Also, this increases my chances of being accepted into a clinical Ph.D. program when I apply next year. It feels very fulfilling to see my hard work finally paying off. I had been waiting to hear back on this manuscript for 5 months, and it's been about a year and a half since I completed my undergraduate thesis and first submitted an article for publication; there was lots of waiting and back and forth. Persistence is definitely one of the keys to success. For my masters thesis, I plan to look at Ecstasy use and depression. When I find out the date of publication, I'll let you all know. Plus, shortly after published, online full text versions in PDF format should be available on select sites.
