yeah...i think it's because everyone's going in the software direction, which is cool, but i think that nothing compares to the hands-on interaction of hardware. I was working on some acid tech last night; the Triton has "30303 Mega Bass", which emulates a 303, and had that going with my TB, and a minimal tech beat, with an M1 organ minor 9th riff and some airy ambience...while turning all the knobs; i'll record it and put it online soon.

I know the acid sound has been done (a LOT), but I use the TB-303 (as it is a pure sound, a sound of electricity) through effects pedals to morph the sound into something seemingly different; I may run it through 2 efx pedals.

Just because alot of people are going towards software has nothing to do with not being much of an acid sound around....theres not much of that sound going around because its an old style but I wouldnt discredit its influence as still being around, nor would I say people still arent making it....I wouldnt know I dont listen to it.......you can get any of the old sounds from the 303, 808, 911, 187 or whatever boxes on any standard equipment today......I know it may not be the same, but they are around and they are improved in my opinion.....

would love to hear some of ur stuff....pop it up and let me know Ill check it out-

hmmm...the sounds are not the same; samples of an analog synth will never be the same, as the margin of "error" in digital is infinite; you can't truely reproduce the sound of a 187 with an Akai; it's just not the same as a blasting .357 or a 9, live.

while this is true the Ideal situaltion for me would be to get a 'marrage' of the two. Namely a Analog and Digital synth. :slayer:

I agree...that would be dope; something like an analog synth, with a built in sampler.

well i agree here in a sense.....and a Marriage of the two does exist in a sense....youve got like the Ms2000 which has anolog sound but processes that sound digitally providing the best of both worlds....the difference between the digital and analog (among many other things) in terms of the sound is that an analog synth will never reproduce the same sound twice in a sound....the sound is constantly fluxuating in a sense and resonating differently if you will.....as in digital its extremely consistent and is the same every time unless you change something.....this is just something Ive read up on and come to realize-
