Its not very surprising to find stuff like that in their schools. Yet again we can look to the past to find answers in the present. In Nazi Germany any child over the age of 8 was required to join the Hitler Youth. While much of the HJ was athletic competition and sport, another huge portion of it was training on Racial purity and mandatory readings from Mein Kampf.

Iraq, much like many other middle eastern countries trains their children to be fighters starting at a very young age. To the Iraqi powers that be we are the enemy, so it only makes sense that they would teach their kids to revel in the successes of America's enemies.

Its sad to see youth raised as such, but its that way in many countries.

and yes it is offensive, and the government shouldn't sponsor something like that... but there has been plenty of really ugly racism on the part of individual americans against arabs too.

I was just pointing out that americans have been guilty of exactly the same thing that their govt was doing. Probably the same americans who are going to feel the most self-righteously offended by that mural.

And their govt shouldn't do it, but neither should we as individuals (and I don't think that the inequality of a govt vs individuals disqualifies that point).

individuals can be over come by their emotions and perform acts of stupidity...comparing individuals to a govt is not fair

Wanted to point out that one of the mods saw fit to edit my previous posts and supplant "arabs" for a more racially-charged term. I understand and support his reasoning, and I want to explain that my use of the original term was solely for shock value (and the sake of getting my point across). Sorry if I offended anyone... I think I'm perfectly capable of couching my scathing derision in more PC terms from now on
