Houston is a terrible city to party in. Everything completely died here about a year ago. The last notible party was "Cyberfest" which was a complete bust by local, state, and federal police. Every once in while there is some crummy warehouse party and even those get busted. The only clubs that are rave clubs are Hyperia and Club Space.
Oh, and don't let me forget the Roxy where 104.1 broadcasts every Sat. night. You know the Roxy in New York. Yeah, well this place is nothing like that.

Austin is a great town to party in. I don't know where you have been going to parties in Austin, invid.

i persoanlly like skummy warehouse parties, less tards and fewer people in general. and i can only think of one that has been busted this year. theres been plenty that have been going down with some impressive headliners. massives suck and thats pretty much the way people doing shows feel. there nothing but trouble, anyone that thought cyberfest was gunna be worth going to had to be on crack, that was a disater from the start. as commercail as it could get and bad timeing.

and i'll always hate parties in Austin and Dallas. i've never been asked if i wanted or was selling shit that many times total anywhere else.

i like wear house parties as much as the next person, i just remember a time when parties were not about profit, i hate having to pay up to 40 dollars to be in a weak environment where people dont even dance, the fact is i miss times when it was ten dollars at the door and the whole room was jumping, does anyone else miss that, and is anyone else tired of paying too much money for too little a party?

warehouse parties are the only place your gunna find $10 parties. world class DJ's want world class pay, and clubs are gunna charge cause people are gunna show. if you want a lineup like cyberfest you have o charge $40. theres no way you could amke that party 10 bucks, you'd be in debt the rest of your life. people may not have said it before but if it costs money you believe they want there's back. you can't throw another unless you make enough to cover your ass on the last one.

that said i won't go to anything over $25 unless it's some one like Danny T or Sasha & Digweed.

The age old debate of warehouse vs. massive.
I am not going to get into it now. But when a city like Austin or even Dallas throws a party, they usually happen. And have you ever been to a party at the i-ball? There are all these kids lying around on the floors in these massive e-puddles. And I have never been asked where to find or if I want to buy ice or glass in Dallas or Austin. Houston has all the tweakers, Dallas seemed to have alot of K, and Austin always has people looking for acid. The etards are in all the cities. San Marcos, Waco, College Station, Corpus, go anywhere in Texas and there is going to be people with glowsticks on x.

I've also been to some great renegade parties in Austin. Parties that were free and you had to get some phone checkpoint or go to some guy on 23rd street and tell him a password to get a map. Small ass parties but setup in cool places. Went to this one badass GOA party by the airport. No one spins GOA anymore and it was great to hear it and be out underneath the stars and watch the planes go in.
Houston just can't do that. Every party is in some ratty club, a flea market (old lonestar theater), a old furnture warehouse (i-ball), or some dirty building in the warehouse district (club space, orbit room, hyperia, etc).

there hasn't been a party at any of those venues for about a year and half. space and hyperia hold club events but not parties, they can't get away with it. Bailey was at a warehouse this year, Julias Papa (i fucked his name), UFO, DJ SICK and Charlie, Omar Santana was at a small party, and Partyrasier from Masters of Hardcore out of Holland played a warehouse party that was only $5. if your more worried about the venue than music then i don't know what to tell you. Best times i've had have been at the warehouses just couse everyone there is there for music not couse theres a great view of uranus.

i think that finger is the number of intelligent witty remarks you've made. im not trying to put you down just stating facts. and if you're trying to not make any sense you're doing a great job.

JMorales, I would hardly listen to the thick overcasting bias that all of these people present in their postings.

Houston is a wonderful city, definatly not the epitome of Texas. I like Houston more than Dallas, Austin and San Antonio simply because of its big city international vibe.

The city has a lot of great venues, some pertaining to rave. I personally love the live venues here. To me they even beat the overrated and overpublicized venues in Austin. Fitzgeralds(called Fitz) is one of the best and oldest venues in town. It takes in a lot of the hometown bands, yet always manages to get some of the big-wigs. Others are Rudyard's and to a point Numbers. The Mausoleum is a really cool coffee shop near numbers in Montrose(The Ultra Hip Part of Town) it also holds some live music every now and them.

The Oven is one of the favorites also. This place is a pizza parlor, but don't be fooled its a full fleged live venue bar..but beware it is extreme hot from all the ovens.

Cardi's Club is another great live venue.

I would be able to give you a pinch of what Houston really has to offer for a taste of Houston Nightlife go to http://www.spacecityrock.com . This website is filled with local band info and more. FYI this website is actually ran by a zine produced in Houston and distributed here and in other major cities.

PS: Not even that website has all of it. Also try http://www.vinylpimp.com .
