...Even though it is coming. Just not for quite some time. The band's new drummer, Branden Steineckert, recently revealed the band plans to start writing this autumn, and will begin recording in January 2008.

He wrote:

A lot of people have been asking me about the new Rancid record. Here's whats planned right now.....We are getting together this Fall to begin writing the new record with plans to record it Jan 08. Check out the Rancid myspace or rancidrancid.com for official updates and band info.

ps. if you havent heard Tim Armstrong's solo album yet, you SHOULD. Its quite :plur: Its called a Poets Life
Here's the video for my favorite song

i'm just trying to figure out if its gonna suck or sound exactly like everything else they've ever done. those are the only two directions i can see this going, and i hope it is the latter.

i just don't see rancid coming out with anything new or mindblowing.

I'll agree with Shane. I've never really been a Rancid fan, at all. They just painted themselves into a corner with the sound they were going for, and they never did anything new or groundbreaking.

To quote Propagandhi, "Ska sucks!"

I was disappointed with Rancid's last album. I'm with Shane and Soul on this one.
