so I saw the new video for Not Falling from their new cd. good video and song by that matter, but it sounds like they change measures during the song a few times making it harder to follow the song. Anyone else get that?

those guys suck.. face paint is over rated.. screaming what ever it is your trying to say to a double bass drum is weak. The perfect band for any 15 year old kid..

yeah... mudvayne does suck... BUT their new stuff is much better then their older stuff... still dont like them though... colin... youll notice changes in the measures in good heavy metal... because well... its REAL hard to do live... mudvayne has actually gotten better as all bands should strive to do... i hate to hear albums put out that are the same or worse quality music as the previous... because well... youre a profressional musician... your job is to get better

its understandable not to like them because of course thats personal preference, but you do have to give them credit that they have serious talent. Ive had this conversation with a couple band members i know and they said that 2 of them graduated from Berkely with music degrees. they know how to compile some intricate time signatures. And they prove it in Not Falling and Trapped in the wake of a Dream where they switch between 17/8 time sig verses, 11/8 choruses and then mix them up later. Now saying they suck talent wise couldnt be farther from the truth but if its just your opinion then thats respectable.

I highly doubt they're playing in 17/8 time, thats really unheard of, ask any musician and they'll tell you the same....the only time you might hear that would be in jazz or something and thats even doubtful, and even so u would simplify the writing of that time, you wouldnt need to say 17/8....... no way a metal or rock band is doing that-

The only thing Nu Metal is good for is if you need to pump yourself up. I used to play those bands all the time to get me into a working mood at my old job. Once I quit, I haven't found myself listening to a single Nu Metal cd I own. They all sound the same and only require a three chord talent and screaming ability. If ya wanna listen to good rock, pick up some Black Sabbath or ACDC cds...

I stand corrected, I guess they are tho I could only find "not Falling" to download....but imo playing in intricate time structures doesn't birth talent.....play in 17/8 time and make it groove with some musical emphasis and then we'll bust out the cigars.....some people who are just learning an instrument will play in wierd ass times because they dont know what they're doing and they suck, you wouldn't call that talent.....Id still like to hear that other track tho Im guessing thats where they really fuck with the time structure?

*Note Im not trying to say these guys are talentless, but I am biased because I think their music is trash, but to each his own....its definetly not easy nor natural to play and change time structures like they do, I should know Im a drummer-

isn't this normal for rock trash?

most pop rock crap i hear tends to jump measures and time signatures at will. I guess that's what happens when you compose music on 2 pounds of cocaine and an IV drop of something strange.

:happyfinger: to rock / pop / all that nonsense

sad to see that the main thing that pours onto this board is unwelcomed pessimism.
