"Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Windows Office XP Professional with FontPage"

then it will tell me to

"insert a Windows Office Professional XP with FontPage cd to continue"

now i dont have any of the cds or shit like that...is there a way I can stop this pop up from happening everytime I open up my Word or turn on my computer ?

Well it’s a company's version of WORD so I didn’t pay a dime for it but it’s on a company’s computer so I don’t want to go through the hassle of going through the company’s tech man to upload the cd…and which means most likely I have to stick with WORD for this computer

"upload the cd"?...step away from the computer son.

if this is at work and you have IT staff, why aren't you asking THEM for help?

take this advice from a long time IT professional:

obey your employer's computer usage policies. it's not worth risking your job so you can listen to Dieselboy while you use Excel.

When I worked for a dot-com for a while, there were no policies. Why? Because the IT managers were so 1337 there that it was impossible to take down the network. The VPO there had an unhuman understanding of computer security, it was unreal.

At the state, computer usage policies are rediculously strict. For instance, all passwords must be changed once a month to non-dictionary words with at least one number and special character and at least 8 characters long, but can not be written down anywhere. Any normal human being could never remember shit like that (especially the average state worker). Another one would be that I'm supposedly not allowed to use Dreamweaver because it's not on the state's rediculously short list of "acceptable" applications.

Computers break sometimes, period. The only reason they have such strict policies is so that if anything goes wrong, they can just point the finger at somebody else. So if a virus happens to break through some hole in the network, it's not the fact that IT wasn't up to date that was the problem, it was the fact that somebody was running iTunes. Pretty fucking stupid if you ask me, but that's office politics for you.
