Discuss, debate, rant, rave (oh wait dont do that, it might piss some people off :pirate: )

Anyway, recently I went to a bar in a restaurant and I had my first Martini (Greygoose and something else) Friend hooked it up. Was pretty good but really fucking strong (duh). Then the next one I had was an Apple Martini, not quite as strong, and pretty damn good.

Whats your fav Vodka etc in a martini?

My dad drinks martini's religously, so I've tried just about every type that exists and I have to sat that my favorite is a very dirty Greygoose martini.

Pardon my ignorance, what makes it a "dirty" martini?

I guess I'd like to know some variations of the ingredients and how people like them.

It means that the martini is made with vodka instead of gin, atleast that is what I was always told.

I thought that was how dirty you wanted it, like very dirty means more olive juice. *shrug* I could be completely off though, this is just what my dad told me.

martinis are my favorite. hence the aim name.

i like apple martini's, although, if you really want to hit up a great martini bar with all kinds of options, go to the lounge. you can't show up there in your raver clothes though. it's a martini and cigar bar, i think they make like 50 different types of martinis. they have one called the godiva made with chocolate liquor.

it depends on where you are... sometimes it a white wine wash or gin. never order it unless you're in a classy restaurant cause they're the only ones that get it right.

all martinis are strong. it contains the most straight alcohol.

can't go wrong with sky or grey goose. damn good vodkas. sky has tons of new flavors now and they're all delicious... ie: mango, pineapple, regular, etc. a tumbler of sky mango and orange juice is fruity and delicious, but i can only do one cause it's so fruity.

there's a new cosmo called the south beach cosmo which is good. whatever vodka you want with orange juice, pineapple juice and a touch of cranberry i think.

orange sherbert martini is the shit but no one's been able to recreate it. i had it at that martini bar on 6th and it was the shit but only 1 bartender made it.

saba blue water cafe has great martinis. the blue ocean water one will kill you.

cheesecake factory in the arboretum had great martinis... atleast a page worth of them.

well, the jackass at "le club" washed it with white wine. another time at sky they put gin. they're gross either way but when someone else is paying for them i can't complain... loudly.

A: Take them back to the store and ask for a refund because you're too stupid to drink. You can't afford to risk losing any more brain cells.

oh and about "dirty" i found this on there...

Q: What makes a martini "dirty"?
A: Olive juice can give the martini a cloudy appearance. Hence the dirty.

how can such an alcoholic board be so illiterate when it comes to martinis? i'm dissapointed.

absolut made a spray bottle for people who wanted their martinis "extra dry." this boggles my mind because generally vodka martinis are made without vermouth.

oh well, absolut =
same with smirnoff... i can't stand that shit.

give me a stolichnaya martini, up and dirty... shanked, not stirred :silly:

The only martini I've ever had was the Pinneapple Upside-down Martini @ P.F. Changs that Kelley made me drink. I have to admit it was pretty tasty, but a tad too sweet for prolonged drinking.
