trouble.. nothing but trouble.. especially if it's a new relationship. It may be different if you were going out and then had to seperate (live in different areas)

Ehh.. but fuck it.. you'll never know unless you try.

it's very very difficult, and like lotek said "you'll never know unless you try," but you've really gotta both want it equally.

you've also got to have a level of trust in that person that a lot of people find hard to gather after a very short time of knowing them.

in my opinion, they should be taken very lightly until there is a possibility of you being near each other on a regular basis. you've gotta be working toward something, otherwise, one of you will find a reason to move on.

i wish you the best of luck with it, though.

I guess you can't really consider Austin & San Antonio real long distance.....but me & Nick made it work for a year & a half. It was pretty hard, but we cared for eachother enough to make the best of it. When you really love someone, time & distance can't get in the way. You sacrifice & do what it takes to keep it going.....its not easy but it can work if both of you think the other is worth it. You have to be strong enough & patient enough to keep the relationship going. It takes both people. It is a true test.

In my experience,Just knowing that we were able to get through the hardships from being away from eachother has made us so much stronger together.....I let the magic work itself out & we are still together....in the same city now.

Aaron and I had 600 miles between us all last semester.

It sucks really really bad. But if both of you work your asses off, it's 100% worth it.

Where do you live that you consider Houston "long distance"?

It was longer than last semester. It was August to May. 9 months right after getting together. It sucked but coming home was the greatest feeling.

We'd been together 8 months before you left. I don't really consider that right after. :D

And yeah, I guess it was longer than just a semester, but it still sucked major ass.

I'm glad I don't have to do that shit anymore.

Nosiree.

don't waste your time... Plenty of people to love in your zip code..

I did the LD thing the entire time I was in the navy so:

1. I cheated on each and every girl.
2. Almost all of them cheated on me.

because its all lovey dovey over the phone, but then when youre looking at this person face to face and realize just how much they really suck.. you'll wind up wonding why you thought it was "ok" to have a 700$ phone bil.

edit.. it works for some.. but not others..

I've had 3 of those. I didn't mind so much. I appreciated the time we spent together a lot more. I tend to get tired of people if I see them all the time. I like my Renee time.

long distance relationships are an excuse for people to still have the independance they want but still claim to be in love with someone..

If they are more then an hours drive then its a big fucking waste of time..

find someone somewhat close to your zipcode because its gonna be anything but a cake walk... take it from someone who had nothing but LD relationships for over 6 years. It was nothing but an excuse for me to have more then one girlfriend in different areas with out anyone of them finding out.. and yea.. its really easy to juggle 6 or 7 of them when they all live 200+ miles apart from each other.

edit.. im a fucking whore.

I agree. 8O

It's okay if you don't live TOO far from each other, but anything more than an hour is too far in my opinion. It can work, don't get me wrong, but both you and your partner will have to put effort into it.

Depends on how long you've been together, how far the distance and how long you'll be apart.
