I finaly got my copy of Live 1.5 last night. This is the beginning of a new phase in my Produceing and a evolution of my sound. So in light of this heres a question for you guys.

What would you consider the central peice of equipment/software that really is the basis for your sound?

and What peice of equipment/software that you want to buy that you think would change you sound and become you new central peice?

You can use it live or in the studio. I really wanted it so that when I have the rest of my equipment I can do stuff live. Im miss performing its one of the greatest feelings in the world.

Live software + Oxygen 8 controller sweepstakes on the old MIXER mag... :happyfinger: ah! here's the description too: okay, sounds really interesting, especially if possible to spin on turntables and play it live through a laptop...

Im using live 1.5 with the oxygen 8 and reason 2.0 as well and i have to say its a lot of fun.
Heres a couple of tracks ive made with live
http://music.texasbeatz.net/producer_tracks/ease_up.mp3
http://music.texasbeatz.net/producer_tracks/Evolver.mp3

the first one was made with the samples that came with live...
for the second one is about one third stock samples. one third original and one third is a hella chopped lick from sir mixalot ...

in case you were interested...

Reason 2.0, Gigastudio, and Cubase SX are essential for the whole Symphonic Electronica stuff i got goin. Reason is awesome when you use it for synths, Gigastudio is amazing for orchestral, and cubase sx's sequencer is awesome (and im one of those crazy people who point and click on a piano roll :P)

I suppose if i could buy anything else... it'd be another 21" monitor :D

I think one of the nicest features in Ableton 2.0 is the ability to Automate the Master Tempo (IE... You can start a track out at 80 BPM... Speed it up to 130 and then end right around 100 if you want.)

I wasn't aware that Ableton 3.0 was out though... We've got a Legit Copy of 2.1 so I'm going to check out the pricing on the upgrade.

Thanks for the heads up. =D

ive been using live for about a year now and its excellent. version 3 has really expanded its capablities with automation INSIDE of the samples. far beyond the pitch shifting capabilities of the first 2 versions. VST support is still a little shaky sometimes but being able to rewire reason into is pretty fxckin cool. apparently fruty has a rewire patch now too but i find fruty to be a little hindering in the interface department.

Mac Titanium Powerbook
Logic
All the NI softsynths
And a few waldorf softsynths.

I have a bunch of analog gear, but the NI stuff sounds the same as the analog stuff. Plus the NI saves settings much easier than the analog stuff. But i would never get rid of the analog stuff.. most of them are approaching 20 years old now.

I dont know what stuff i would buy.. i recently bought a triton but it was overkill so i sold it.
