*takes off hat*

to put it harshly, they have fallen to the 'sucking dick for listeners' stage.

So a friend and I are in her car and Aerosmith is on the radio, we naturally change it because we abviously find anything made by them in the past decade to be really annoying. So we are going to check what is on 102.7 and BAM! IT WAS THE STATION PLAYING AEROSMITH!

Aerosmith should say it right there. In fact, they said that they were going to be the new competition with KISS... my ass.

well if you listen to 106.7 jamz its now turned into SA's version of mega 93.3... They have some cool mixes late at night, but wait till this summer, i believe they are gonna start doing things live from clubs. During the day its your basic mainstream trance and house, here and there some two-step and breaks... then they play a lil hip-hop and oldskool freestyle from time to time. But your chances of a really good electronic music station is next to impossible, because corprate radio stations want shitloads of listeners. Your right there is a market... but its a market for the club trance, and house. The more trendy stuff is all you will here during the day. Their simply wouldn't be a whole lot of listeners if you had a true electronic station. Not yet at least.... Not till it goes completely mainstream.

radio=mainstream nothing less

unless its a pirated radio station or college station.

A true electronic station, other than on pay services like sattelite radio, won't happen anytime soon. Even in chicago, where it is common to hear house beats blasting from cars, they don't have a good electronic station. They do have live mixes from clubs on the weekend with guest djs, but during the day its more mainstream music (hiphop).

San Antonio lacks a great variety of music. Some of the djs on the air need to be educated about all the great music that is out there. Everytime there happens to be house music on the radio it is either really old or new music that sounds old. I hear people playing that 2unlimited (think spurs theme song) shit.

it isn't the DJ choosing the music, it is a corporate station so they are there to be a personality.

well companys like cox radio and clear channel basically tell the djs what they can play during the day and what they can't... If you listen to them late at night i here some pretty new stuff regularly... 106.7 JAMZ (not to be confused with 102.7) plays like the more clubby stuff during the day naturally, because the majority of the electronic listening scene is made up of drunken clubbers, and yuppie bitches.... no offense. These people want to hear darude, Amber, modjo, fragma, and trendy stufff along those lines, oh with a twist of hip-hop here and there. People who are educated aren't needed at these radio stations during the day because we aren't thier market... There aren't enough of educated electronic music lovers out here in south texas. If a trendy clubber heard some jungle (real jungle not "totally addicted to bass") they would instantly switch stations and the radio station would drop ratings. Same with real trance, techno, hardhouse, breaks, and house... and of course Hardcore. Yeah we would be listening but there simply aren't enough of us. in order for there to be enough of us the "rave scene" needs to become fully mainstream... Most of you think its mainstream now, but it is no where close. most of yall don't want it to get that mainstream, but if you want huge nice venued partys again regularly and a radio station thats what has to happen. that is how the UK is, it is completely mainstream there... therefore the essential mix and other radio shows happen there.
