Just thought I'd toss this out for ya guys....

This is a statement that was read over the PA system at the football game at
Roane County High School, Kingston, Tennessee, by school Principal, Jody
McLoud. I thought it was worth sharing with the world and hope you will forward it
to all your friends. It shows clearly just how far this country has gone in
the wrong direction.

"It has always been the custom at Roane County High School football games, to
say a prayer and play the National Anthem, to honor God and Country."

Due to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, I am told that saying a Prayer
is a violation of Federal Case Law. As I understand the law at this time, I can
use this public facility to approve of sexual perversion and call it "an
alternate lifestyle," and if someone is offended, that's OK.

I can use it to condone sexual promiscuity, by dispensing condoms and calling
it, "safe sex." If someone is offended, that's OK.

I can even use this public facility to present the merits of killing an
unborn baby as a "viable means of birth control." If someone is offended, no
problem.

I can designate a school day as "Earth Day" and involve students in
activities to worship religiously and praise the goddess "Mother Earth" and call it
"ecology."

I can use literature, videos and presentations in the classroom that depict
people with strong, traditional Christian convictions as "simple minded" and
"ignorant" and call it "enlightenment."

However, if anyone uses this facility to honor God and to ask Him to bless
this event with safety and good sportsmanship, then Federal Case Law is
violated.

This appears to be inconsistent at best, and at worst, diabolical.
Apparently, we are to be tolerant of everything and anyone, except God and His
Commandments.

Nevertheless, as a school principal, I frequently ask staff and students to
abide by rules with which they do not necessarily agree. For me to do otherwise
would be inconsistent at best, and at worst, hypocritical. I suffer from that
affliction enough unintentionally. I certainly do not need to add an
intentional transgression.

For this reason, I shall "Render unto Caesar that which is
Caesar's," and refrain from praying at this time.

"However, if you feel inspired to honor, praise and thank God and ask Him, in
the name of Jesus, to bless this event, please feel free to do so. As far as
I know, that's not against the law----yet."

One by one, the people in the stands bowed their heads, held hands with one
another and began to pray.

They prayed in the stands. They prayed in the team huddles. They prayed at
the concession stand and they prayed in the Announcer's Box!

The only place they didn't pray was in the Supreme Court of the United States
of America - the Seat of "Justice" in the "one nation, under God."

Yes, the Christians are so oppressed in America. I think they should just have a moment of silence before games, and allow everyone to pray, do what ever they feel. We do not need Billy Bob Preacher, who feels he has been "ordained" by the holy spirit to bark a prayer before a game. If you are going to have christian prayers, you should alternate a different faith every week.

What difference does it make what faith is praying? They're all praying to the same God.

WTF? Are you really that stupid?

It's the people who AREN'T Christian that bitched and moaned to get prayer out of school. And it's the same people that bitched and moaned and said that we should give kids condoms at school.

Just because you're not a Christian does not give you the right call us idiots. You have the right to disagee. You do not, however, have the right to judge someone based on his/her beliefs.

You might be right. However, there has been alot of historical bloodshed over whose God is better. Personally, I do not care. However, I think a moment of silence is more appropriate in this context. Some people do not even believe in God, why step on their rights?

Are you trying to tell me that Baptists and Methodists and Catholics have shed blood over who's God is better?

Or are you saying that other religions have fought over their God?

Because I've never heard of different denominations going to war against each other over God.

Because our rights were taken away to pray at schools. This is "One Nation. Under God." It's my personal belief that if you don't believe...don't pray. Simple as that.

a)if you want prayer in schools

pray if you want ... you do not need a PA system to do it

b)if you dont want to pray

then dont

point is that it doesnt matter if they have prayer in school or not .... decide what you want to do and do that.

pray if you want to pray, you don't need someone leading you into it.

but don't force your beliefs on other people.

and THAT is why we don't pray in schools anymore.

i thought i might throw this little tidbit out there...

i (sadly, yes) went to westlake. football is big at westlake... okay more like huge.
when i went there, the coach would make the football team pray in the inzone every game. he said "you don't have to believe or even listen, just sit there and be quiet with the rest of the team."

shortly after i graduated some pissed off parent voiced up, and westlake was forced to change this 30 year tradition. not long after that westlake lost it's first district game ever.

now i'm not saying "God made them lose" or anything like that, it just struck me an interesting coincidence.

i love how we can't even have a moment of silence anymore, but it's perfectly fine now to bash people's personal beliefs out in the open.

I don't like her complaining about it all, but I do give her props for the way she got around it.
