funny how when mikey says it you laugh, and when i say it you are defensive.

i think someone's feeling a bit threatened :smokin:

No, because his was in a joking manner. Youre is in private to her...actively wanting to know (on several occastions) if she was "available". Yes, that does suggest that I should feel a little threattened. If you had a girl you would know the feeling. However, you dont, so I wouldnt expect you to understand. Funny isnt it?

Actualy, i remember leslies availability coming up in conversations with mikey several times. I think you're just pciking on baker here.

And i see believing in a god-like figure as a sign of unintelligence. Sorry, i REALLY can't help it.

Jesus christ I can't even finish reading this crap.

I've met twelve-year-olds who are smarter than 85% of the content in this post. What a fucking disgrace.

just cause one smart guy is a christian doesn't make a case for the religion or its adherents.

That's not the point, the statement was made that a belief in God is a sign of unintelligence.

I'm not throwing down my IQ or SAT scores or no shit like that because those aren't even real indicators of true intelligence as much as application of the head knowledge you have is, however, I am considered by many to be of the intelligent sorts, and I know many who are that also believe in God.

how the hell is that philosophy? some of my best professor's in philosophy have been adamant atheists, i'd trust them more than a physicist... the topic of god has been central to philosophy since the beginning of language.

I think everyone needs to read The Case for Faith by Lee Stroebel.

It talks about the conscience proof that there is a God. It was recommended by my father-in-law and sounds really really interesting, though I haven't read it yet. :D

Funny to see how up-in-arms religion makes us stupid humans. As far as belief in christianity being an indicator of intelligence or stupidity....disagreeing with someone's world view does not make them a dumbass in any context larger than your own head, and calling them a dumbass only points the finger in the opposite direction.

I think the number one cause of atheism is monotheism. Christianity and Islam is enough to drive anyone from faith. I'm not saying all monotheistic religions/churches are bad, but most of them are fairly hypocritical and prejudice. The whole topic of this thread I believe proves my point.

I've found many dogmatic atheists to be just as stubborn and narrow in their views as any bible-thumper. Everybody wants to be right, and who can blame them? I personally don't care, as long as folks can accept that their view is one of many.

"religion" is the organization of people around a philosophy. i'm talking about a case for theism that revolves around what we know about the inner workings universe... something a nuclear physicist may know a thing or two about - as opposed to a case for organizing and taking action on such a philosophy as you suggested i was.

if you actually know your philosophy professor's own philosophy than he is a horrible professor. i happen to know that dr. martinich at ut is a christian, but that's only because i know his daughter... if you were to take one of his classes you would never know.

However, I can't think of one time that atheists have started a war over their beliefs. I think every modern faith except for Hinduism and Buddhism has a little blood on their hands, and I could be wrong about those.
