Just take more drugs. Your world may not be real, but it'll be a sight more vivid. :silly:

J/k. I've heard that people get depressed sometimes, but that's usually like hardcore crackheads and stuff. I think you just need to cheer up. Go listen to some trance. :slayer2:

Don't you go blaming depression on the ecstasy now! :nono:

I think it's really common for people who've used drugs to seize upon the drugs as being the problem whenever they are feeling down. Yes, ecstasy has perhaps been linked to some depression and anxiety problems, and if you were already predisposed to have those problems, it could trigger them.
However, it also is probably likely that you have become depressed for another reason or set of reasons, and perhaps the past ecstasy has just contributed to that overall down feeling. It should probably not be be blamed as the sole cause, especially considering how moderate you were in using it.

well ecstasy use can lead to changes in mood like that, we all know about ecstasy and depression. it's important to remember that drugs affect everyone differently so light doses for you could affect your mood, brain, and body in ways it wouldn't affect someone else.

so, maybe it's part of the reason you're depressed lately, but maybe it isn't. just don't get into the mindset that it's the drugs that did it to you. you can easily screw yourself up that way. it's cliche, but it's true and people forget it - the mind is powerful. if you choose to believe that your ecstasy use is making you depressed now, then you will be depressed, seemingly helplessly, even if the ecstasy hasn't affected your general mood tendencies at all.

I get depressed sometimes for seemingly no reason. But i've noticed that if i take a vitamin and eat well it goes away after about three days.
the way you'd know it came from the drugs is if the sadness came for no reason at all. you'd also prolly feel really tired, kinda like the world is falling out from under your feet.
yeah, you'd have to be a hardcore user to get it tho.
but, eh, everyone's different. this has just been my observation.

hmmm.
yes and no
yes i agree the mind is very powerful and controls the rest of the body
"without the mind the body is dead"
but there is many drugs
with comparable depression side effects
phenobarbetol(misspelled)
used to treat epilipesy
has extreme side effects of depression
so yes,
drugs do cause depression.
many things can cause depression
dramatic event
insecurity that leads into this
or
even a broken heart
can lead into depression

One of the problems with ANY regular drug use, regardless of whether or not it was abused, is that it reveals underlying mental and psychological issues. So maybe something that was there before but wasn't noticeable or hadn't yet surfaced. You might want to find out if depression runs in the family.
If you're looking for treatment vitamins and working out or participating in sports help to keep it under control. You might also want to experiment with St Johns Wort if you're not wanting to go to a physician right away.
I also advise trying to get back in touch with some of the things you did and people you knew before you ever tried any drugs... People tend to push those things aside when they discover this new world.

depression may be a function of lacking either of three neurotrannies; dopamine, serotonin, and/or norepinephrine; the verdict still isn't in about exactly what causes all of the different types of depressions....
...since MDMA is serotoninergic (and messes with dopamine too), depleted levels of serotonin may cause you to feel depressed; a reason I'm not a big fan of MDMA

yep...lack of phenethylamine, I suppose; a reason some broken- hearted people indulge in chocolate ;-)

i used to roll a lot when i first started going to parties.

then i realized what that shit was doing to me.

3 years later, i have really unstable mood swings, depression and a bad memory.

i think that my dilemma of this is from rolling.
so- iono
dopamine has a lot to do with that shit too.

maybe you should go get that shit checked out....?....

stop using for six months. not just once in a a while, or just once in the six months. really stop using for six months, and see how your brain feels. my own personal experiences leads me to believe that usage of certain drugs has an immediate effect (1-2 days) an intermediate effect (1 week) and less noticable long term effects (months). your brain is a complicated witches' brew of neurotransmitters and more - it can restore itself to a more "natural" balance in most people, but you have to give it a chance.

Maybe you're just normal and have ups and downs like the rest of us? No one is happy and cheerful all the time, man...

Yeah, given the information you've provided, I'd say that it's probably more than the drug. Try to think about your lifestyle choices now. Even if you don't use ecstasy, are you using other substances (including alcohol)? Are you sleeping/ eating properly? Are you exercising on a regular basis? Do you feel stressed out? Being unhealthy in a number of ways can make you feel down.
It has for me in the past. I blamed so many things on my past use of drugs, but when I went to the doctor and told her about how I felt, I discovered that I was anemic, which makes you feel tired, sluggish and depressed. I started taking an iron supplement and that made me feel so much better.

Although this may be different for others, my experience is that if I take MDMA, I can expect to feel a chemical depression for roughly the next week. I've been seriously depressed before and this is not the same kind of depression that comes post-E. It's an unnatural chemical depression that seems to be there for no apparent reason and just dissappears one night while I'm sleeping.
I won't touch the stuff anymore unless I know that I'm already on top of the world, thus have an abundant supply of tryptophan, dopamine and seretonin to carry me through the next week.
