I enjoy any DJ that has played long enough to really know what they are doing, but hasn't landed a bunch of record deals with moonshine, etc. that puts them into superstar DJ status with their ego (and head) floating amongst the clouds looking down on the rest of us with their noses cocked up like they deserve better than to be breathing the same air as a bunch of club kids.
The same goes for live musicians. I've worked with enough DJs and musicians that I'm completely over the big names. That's not to say that all big names are stuck on themselves. Some of them are real down to earth people.
I would say that considering all factors, the DJs don't make a party. By far, the #1 factor that I consider that makes or breaks a party is who is putting the thing together or organizing it. The big names will give you extra turnout, but that doesn't usually make it a better party.
That's one way of interpreting a good party 'cause I sure as hell KNOW by experience that I'm not going to enjoy Girl Talk's disastrous act or go out to listen to the same 'stuff' over and over again.
