does anyone know any information or recomendations on any pa's or something that is good for producing beats?

i have so many ideas, but honestly I don't know much about producing, I want to do atmospheric like experimental minimal breaks.

what would be the best (affordable) thing to get for that?

first thing you need is a sound card

second you'll need either

A: an amplifier to power your speakers with most amplifiers you can get from Best Buy you can power 4 speakers and a subwoofer

or

B: a mixing board, like a little Mackie, that can power your PA's.

I think you you would be happier with an amplifier around 400watts and two speakers that have a small sub, a mid, and a tweater. If you would open it up you would see three speakers in one box. I don't know exactly what to call them. Also get two near-field monitors that are just mids and highs, they look alot like the speakers you would see on the side of a boom box. Then get a subwoofer, like one for home entertainment centers. You'll get some pretty good sound out of that. And Im guessing for all of that it will cost between 400 and 700 dollars if you buy the cheapest stuff.

you misunderstood me. i don't need speakers, i don't have a pa. i'm asking if anyone knows a good one I should buy. i need something that producers percussions, and something that I can sample noices and echo them and repeat while layering them with the beats.

the piece of gear that I would reccomend is a KORG Electribe ES-1 Sampler.....this thing is small and easy to take around, sounds good, affordable, easy to use......if youre looking for something to get u started making beats I would recomend it.....I own one and it got me off my feet, it kinda hangs around nowadays cuz I got funner things but I still use it

It all depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend doing it...

If you just want to get started and mess around with things and find out how it all works, then I think just picking up a copy of Reason, Fruityloops, Orion, or some program like that is a good idea and not too expensive. With a program like that you get a drum machine or two, a decent sampler, and a handful of softsynths to play with, and you don't have to spend a lot of cash on hardware or plugins.

so, you're talking about for example having atmospheric sounds layered over fast beats, right? So, you would need a beatbox, and a synthesizer/samplear able to produce ambient sounds. I think the asiest way to produce ANY sound is with a multi-voice keyboard, it's got 7 notes and deep/bass-light/high pitch range. Another good thing about a keyboard is that it allows you to practice - you can hear a melody at a club, come back home and try to reproduce it with your keyboard.

with a beatbox, you basically need something that can produce (most importantly in electronic music) bass, kick drum, snare drum, hi-hats, clapping sounds, etc preferrably in separate layers or channels.
