Wizards and Warriors. Link: Legend of Zelda; i was way too young to comprehend that game, so i couldn't advance to any of the bigger levels. Elevator action wasn't that bad. I could go pretty far in that game, but i'd just get bored of it.

The most impossible games that i could never play, were Terminator 2, and Back to the Future on NES; i could never fucking beat the malt shop area.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr@malt shop area, I could never pass that damn stage. :(

I'm surprised most people could even get past the school kiss stage.

did everyone stop playing video games? Most of the answers are games from the 80's. In my opinion Counter-strike for the pc is the hardest game ever cuz you gotta learn how to fire each gun differently and beat hackers.

I ave absolutely no problem beating modern video games for the most part. Old school games were made much tougher, sometimes due to the fact that your objectives were obscure, sometimes because you had to have sharp reflexes.

Final Fantasy games are my bitches.
I've never had a problem beating them, I beat every FF my first time through, and relatively quickly. There's always one boss that kills me, about mid way through, then I get pissed and kick ass. Didn't die that whole last portion inside Sin.

There was this game released for the nintendo called Athena that was hard as hell. In fact, late into the game based on actions you did on one level it would determine if the next level was level of sky, or level of hell. I can't remember reaching it far past the sky level or ever beating hell. The game had lots of random chaos that would occur. Like it was really buggy. I dunno if the game could be beat or if it was one of those games that once you beat the last level, the game starts at the beginning again. I hate games that don't at least give you a congradulations. Tiger Heli was also a bitch.

Current game that is way too hard: F-Zero GX.

ahh, but do you know the dakou technique?

yeah i pretty much beat it. Now, I never actually beat the final boss cause by that time I was so tired of it, but I did everything else and by the time I got to the final boss I tried to beat it a few times, but always lost. So I figured ehh fuck it, the game is beaten as far as im concerned. haha.

lol, this thread is pretty old, but here I am yapping away on video games.

<---HUGE gaming geek.

I think the new Ninja Gaiden for Xbox is pretty challenging at the moment.

I'm waiting for Halo 2, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, the new Zelda and Paper Mario 2 to come out.

Currently in my rotation are:

Red Dead Revolver (nice)
007: Everything or Nothing (nice)
Star Wars: KotR (ehh)
Spider Man 2 (which rocks)
Panzer Dragoon Orta (rocked but short)
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
Deus Ex: Invisible War
Mega Man Ultimate Collection

i have more games that i never touch though.

Fav comtemporary games:

Metroid Prime
Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast days - before everyone hacked it)
F Zero GX
Zelda: Ocarina/Wind Waker
Starlancer (on Dreamcast)
Soulreaver
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
Halo
Prince of Persia
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
Viewtiful Joe (awesome)

its sad to say, but today's games will never be as hard as the games from the 80's and early 90's

i agree in part...also to say that games of today are mostly watered down so any joe-schmo can dig it, unlike the games of the 80's/90's.

These days its few and far betwen to find one of those great games that you sit and play for days and days and has a high replay factor.

Heh, I remember back in the NES days, no matter how many times I beat Kid Nikki or SMB or any other game, I would always play it over and over and over again. OMG, original Mario Kart, battle style - are you kidding me? I'd play that until the images were reverberating in my head, haha. Not many games do that these days. Last one like that for me was Metriod Prime, Phantasy Star Online and F Zero GX. INteresting that all these games I liked are iterations of old school games.
