So, down to it, what does everyone think? Let's use this post to provide feedback on the following main areas:
- Design
- Functionality
- Feature Requests

• I'm using this design because it was already ported over to a few of the applications I've installed. I'm not attached to this design at all. One of the great things about it is that it's very flexible for making changes.
• The Social Network: This is the application that will function very similarly to MySpace and Facebook. This is a new application for me and there are bound to be bugs that I didn't catch. PLEASE let me know of any bugs you find here in this post.
• I imported everyone's messageboard username and password into the social network. There is a way to integrate the login, logout, registration, and password changing scripts all together. Honestly, I started hacking at it and it's just too much of a mess right now for me to tackle - especially with new functionality coming soon. So, please pardon the multiple login forms, etc. In time, it'll get addressed once I can work out the logic and other applications that something like that needs to work with.
• The logo: What are everyone's thoughts on the old logo? I think it would be cool to have another logo design contest, or even a full site design contest. What are everyone's thoughts?
• Music, I've removed the old functionality: This was a tough decision. For years, GlobalBeatz has been one of the main resources for artists to get their music out there and promoted. One of the things that I like about the social network is that the ability to continue listening to music remains, downloading it just becomes the issue. The other side to this is that the old system was getting abused by people uploading mixes to the tracks section. We barely avoided serious legal issues last year. With this new system in place, I'm confident that we'll be able to effectively address any sort of copyright issues (that I know of). What are everyone's thoughts on the ability to download actual MP3 files?

So, really, those are the main things for now. Let's hear your feedback.

UPDATES:

• 2008.02.16: I fixed the link issues with the board, as well as the title issues for the past couple of days. Long story short, I got sloppy with some things, but all seems to be working well now. There are some stylistic things (mostly with font colors) that I need to fix, but I'm kinda burned on the board right now, so I'm going to work on the social network errors for a while.
• 2008.02.16: I turned on the avatar functionality. Please try to break it and report back here.
• 2008.02.16: FIXED: (noted by andrew davidoff) "mark topics read" when viewing a forum works. "mark forums read" while viewing the forum index doesn't.
• 20008.02.16: FIXED: (noted by Leslie 2.0 v2) when I click the thing on the right to take me to the most recent post, I get a 404."

Thanks for catching that - I need to hack at the mod_rewrite rules for social network profile stuff. Now that I think about it, a lot of that stuff will likely be br0k'd.

I guess making things work the way they should might make the top of the list.

It's makin' me trip ballz. I feel like I'm in miami..

Any plans on trying to bring the old look back as an option? New looks scare me sometimes. Can't wait to try out the new features though.

bring back the black and purple background.

Not shabby. The banner is too fuckin' big and shoddy, though. I like that most of the smilies are now listed on the left. No more popup.

The color scheme isn't bad, either. But change that green to something else. Green and blue together makes me think.... something dirty, mildewish, grungy, sewage water. Maybe a yellow or black... or fuck, a dark purple.

I'm sure it's on your list, but the social network/main page login isn't passing through to the messageboard. I'm having to login twice (same credentials, so obviously they're authenticating to the same db).

I don't like that I have to log in on the main page, then log in again when I wanna post.

Please to be bringing back the black and purple skinz. I'm excited about the features, but I liked the look of the old skool better.

pages 2+ on old posts don't work, get a 404, when you click on the 'next page' link or the number of the page

if you create a new post when the redirect occurs you go to the 2nd page

You don't have to do that if you click the box for it to remember you... but I guess that's the original point of your post.

interesting, very interesting... i was out drinking a little late last night and THIS HURTS MY EYE'S... oh, and if myspace wans't bad enough, now i have the pressure of collecting friends on here too. other than that, cool, you put a lot of work into this... worth the down time yesterday. i actually contributed at work, lol

on the old board in the board index, i liked being able to see the most recent new thread subject ..

i dig the design,the colors are eh....i like the old colors....
