eye for an eye is illogical and immature. for that matter so is (usually) turning a cheek. neither really accomplish anything. i guess this goes w/o saying, but it's a really broad question you are asking - specific situations should be analyzed on an individual basis.

Karma! They will eventually get what is coming to them and it won't be pretty.

yea. depends on the situation.

some things are just pointless/dont matter/not worth the effort... and some things are not.

eye for an eye is a fairly basic concept. more "tailored" punishment, designed to push the right buttons, usually is more advantageous.

was there some specific situation you were thinking of?

naw... its just i noticed that about 99.9% of the time i treat someone just as they have treated me... if not maybe a little better... or a little worse...

I think turning the other cheek just leaves you vulnerable to get smacked again...

Sometimes the 'eye for an eye' mentality can lead to an individual wasting a lot of time trying to 'settle the score', taking energy away from doing other, more important things.

I couldn't say I fall into either camp completely, as far as personally. It all depends on the situation, and if I am really PISSED OFF about it or not. I tend to find being forgiving can many times prove much easier than taking a grudge to the grave.

well yeah... the only time i react to someone is if they TRULY pissed me off... if they are just an annoyance, im not gonna put effort into being an annoyance in return... if they are a thorn in my side... imma put effort into putting on in their side

I'm more of a "you'll get what you deserve now I'm just gonna go on my way" type of person. An eye for an eye usually leads to shitty consequences.

Its better to "move on".......trying to get even does nothing but hold you back from progressing from a bad experience. You just wind up bitter, angry & cold.

yeah, it depends on the situation.

some shit is not worth it.

some shit is more than worth it.

i'm more of a passive person anyway, i don't tend to get too riled up over much.

follow the 11th rule of the Church of Satan.

11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

the church of satan actually has some very good principals.

its not devil worship or any bullshit like that, people are very misinformed if they think that.

they're more like "be true to yourself and respect everything around you."

the church of satan actually is quite level headed with their tenets and ideas....

respect yourself, indulge your desires, you are your own most important interest. they do not 'worship satan' as they do not subscribe to christian ideas of god and satan, its primarily just a similarity in the name. the main problem i have with the church of satan is they advocate vengeance, and i am not a vengeful person, id rather live and let live, than seek retribution.

the wiccan rede seems a more i dunno, good karma... 'an it harm none, do as ye will' (so long as it harms no one, do whatever you want)

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."
--Mohandas K. Gandhi

The eye for an eye mentality can keep conflict brewing. The eye for an eye mentality can make a person as bad as his or her enemies. The eye for an eye mentality can show that someone lacks the strength to be a better person. The eye for an eye mentality does not adequately address individual circumstances and motives. The eye for an eye mentality does not leave room for forgiveness.

Eye for an eye is only appropriate in certain situations.

well.....don't go for the 'eye for an eye' concept...do what ur mind tells u to do...if the person is worth sticking along with..then u might as well fight....coz then u r both creditors and everything is well after the incident....if the person's not worth it...then u dont need to even think abt the eye or the other cheek...its just no good....
