I just had a major breakthrough in figuring out MIDI. :D :plur:

Sorry if this does not strike you as being worthy of belonging in the Producer Forum. If I had posted this in the PLUR forum, I don't very many people would have understood (let alone appreciated) what I have just experienced.

I had been doing a lot of reading on MIDI and none of it REALLY clicked until I opened up a window in the List Editor of a program. WHAM! it all came together and hit me....I had actually opened up the floodgates of divine revelation. I can actually visualize and comprehend the editing part of it now.

Wow, the possibilites. I'll be up for days now :nerdl:

It does help to RTFM and then some. Just wanted to share this with you fellow producers out there.

</rambling>

Joe, by all means take it. But of couse, that may mean that you'd have to get a Mac :silly: I had friends that took a similar class at Southern Ill Univ. and they were doing some wild shit with audio and video that I can't still figure out.

Midi is what makes the world go round'....in electronic music that is...thanks to Sequential Circuits in the early seventies if I recall correctly...

I think it's on its way out though... It'll still be around so people can use all their old gear but in 5-10 years all new stuff will probably use mLan or some equivilent thing. Once the economy stops sucking and companies have more $$$ for R&D again.

Yamaha just announced a sweet looking mLan mixer at Musikmesse. MSRP is like $1700 though. :(

I have a suggestion. Let's start a MIDI workshop here in the Producer Forum. It can start as a discussion and links thread and then maybe grow from there if it needs to.

It'll be our little secret ;-) :plur:

I cannot really offer any leadership or expertise in the matter as I am still a novice, but I can get the ball rolling. I'm hoping that the more knowledgable TBNers will be kind enough to step forward and show us a trick or two.

All in favor say "Aye"?

All opposed are cursed. May you be in MIDI lock-up 4EVAR! :firedevil:
