Besides you DJ's who would rather have the latest record you like than eat, does anybody go out and buy their music anymore?

Like going into a record store and purchasing a CD.......With all this file sharing and mp3 biz going on Im just curious, seems like most people dont as much, they are finding enough music online to tie them up....what are your trends as far as getting your music?-

Records are a way of life, man... :silly:

Yeah I support artists I believe deserve my support. Plus, the sound quality of an MP3 (esp. the bass) is shit compared to a real CD.

I bought a CD about 2 months ago. I don't really believe in supporting the price tag on CDs. So I figure if I buy one CD for every two or so I DL I am still supporting the artists.

I buy cds not to support the artist financially, because they make shit off of cds unless they are a well established band, but in order for them to keep their record deals they have to sell records, so that's a way of supporting them. I also like the little cd booklets.

Yup... alot of people think this way.

Now.. if the record companies would get off thier silly asses and ditch this whole $17 for an album of CRAP, and start putting out CD singles, affordably priced, i'd consider buying some CDs.

Whats a domestic vinyl go for? 7 bucks or so?
Figure CD's are cheaper to make... easier to distribute.. cost less to ship, yadda yadda.

I think there should be an abundence of CD singles in the $5 range... and I think alot of people would go for this...

$5 for one track and a remix of it... or $17 for an album full of CRAP and the one song you like ?

WAIT!! that means musicians would have to put out something besides one hit track and 10 craptracks to succeed! the end of the industry is at hand!

CDs are evil. I dont like them just because of how they are sold - high price, low quality.

Yeah, but finding mp3s in that quality is rare.

Agreed......and I dont really think CD prices are that outrageous, if its someone I really like, I dont mind coughing up the $12-$16.99 to buy their album.....especially since I'll buy a single import vinyl for $9.99-$11.99 and sometimes thats just for one track in particular-
