I'm looking to get a nice (not uber expensive) bottle of Brandy for a special occasion.

Question is, dont have a CLUE what to get. Dont know what I'll like cuz I dont know whats out there.

So, conessieurs (i know i fucked that one up) discuss, if you will, the different kinds/brands/bottles etc that you like.

My favorite Brandy is El Presidente. I've even mixed it into apple sauce and had a good time.

Pepsi mixes well with Brandy.

If you are going to drink Brandy straight... get yourself a small 8 oz glass, put in a couple of cubes, and then pour in enough Brandy to make the cubes float. You don't want them at the bottom, but you don't want an inch of space. Just think of this: "I am James Bond, and James Bond has the precision of this space between the cubes and the bottom of the glass."

When you drink it. You want to savor the flavor of it on your tongue and the back of your mouth. The absorption is more important than the gulping. Just the casual swallowing of saliva with the brandy will do the trick.

don't you usually warm up brandy and drink it out of those odd-shaped 'brandy glasses'?

If you want a cognac... and don't want to spend a BUTTLOAD, get hennessey.. the very special is the lowest shelf of henny you can buy, and I love it. There is other blends, but they go up in price accordingly.

Or Courvoisier.

Fact is, Hennessey is one of the oldest, if not oldest brands of Cognac still around.

Please, whatever you do, enjoy the bouquet of the alcohol, let it make love to your pallette. Don't mix it with some fucking soft drink. If you're going to do that, drink jack daniels.

Added to note: Cognac is the only brandy I've had any sort of experience with.

I've never had that experience, but I prefer vodka as well. I prefer not to taste my liquor, but I'll make an exception for a good whiskey or vodka which are the only liquors I'll sip on/shoot.

Cool, I'm hoping to pick some up this weekend.

Thanks for all the info guys!

Anyone have any brands they suggest? Also, there are like 5 or 6 different kinds of brandy (like what its distilled from and where its from etc). Anyone have any recommendations on that?

Thanks.

So, is it supposed to be chilled? Should I put the bottle in the fridge or freezer?

I got a bottle of Brandy for tonight, not real sure what to do w/ the bottle. Kinda got an idea of how I'm supposed to drink it lol.
