Just letting everyone know that Alien records has moved. Our new location is 4101 Guadalupe St. Ste.#400, a little bit past 33 degrees records. We will be closed for a couple of days to move, but should re-open this weekend. Better parking, easier to find, NO CONSTRUCTION and no more flooding. Oh yeah, did forget to mention the same, good ol, friendly Alien staff. (hehe) Come see us.....

I love this place! I caught them on the last day of the sale and picked up a Vestax PDX-2000 for $244! A bargain! And also I got a nice Ortofon cartridge for $45. Now I spin CDs AND Vinyl so HA!

They STILL need to seperate their trance from their house though. Make browsing faster and easier =)

The new location is soo perfect in many ways and has that great austin vibe to it. I was there today and it's ..... nice!

lol, I'm playing. But their drum and bass section seemed big enough. I brought a DnB fan from out of town there and she was impressed.

1) Strange, over the last year or so I found some promos I had scoured the web looking for in their new bin. Things that hadn't gone to general release yet. (dnb promos)
2) I have had the employees offer more than once to order things I wanted but they didn't have.
3) I've never had anyone be anything short of polite to me in that store, and usually it's above and beyond just polite.
4) Eh, sometimes you can find shit cheaper online, sometimes not when you add in shipping.
5) See #3.

I will admit, they don't have the hugest dnb selection I've ever seen by far, and I wish they had more new releases. However, I've found things in there that totally blew my mind. I'm not informed enough to comment on their house/trance/breaks selection. Their techno section is pretty good.

Did you lose your job or something? I notice you are the owner of the first post. Who are you? I think my fave employees are Ms. H and the new guy (sorry for forgetting your name, you're quite friendly).

First off, it sucks that I gotta call you out like this Mark, I considered you a friend, but there is no need to attack the store due to personal issues you have, which are not directly related to the store, but to problems with the owner. I love this store and work each day to make it better and for you to talk shit like this makes me more than upset.

So...bottom line is this shit isn't cool Mark! You can have whatever opinion you want about the store based on your own altered perception, but there is no need to post it online and bad mouth a place that you were so proud of for so long. You sound bitter as a motherfucker, rather than constructively critical! (and yes Alan, he lost his job, but was his decision, he was not fired.)

The two big problems I see with you publicly talking shit are:
A.) Aside from any personal bullshit that happened between you and the owner...he has always been cool to you and was always there for you. and
B.) All points you listed (aside from #4) are problems that mostly stemmed from you. You talk as though you were the model employee, which was not the case.

(thanks for the generalization by referring to me as a rude dick mark. You've never seen that side of me, but will from here on. Also, very nice how referred to yourself in third person on point 5…maturity at its finest.)

Your lack of enthusiasm and motivation to better the store was the one of the biggest problems and is the root of the points you listed above.
The store is certainly getting better every day. Sorry that you left on bad terms, but no need to try and bring down the ship with you.

For once.. I agree. But sometimes I really enjoy just starting at the A's and going to the Z's and just jamming to everything in the middle. It takes time, but everytime I goto a record store I plan on spending at least 2 or 3 hours and a few hundred bucks.

they've recently starting getting in all new stuff.. some really excellent stuff. It took time for them to get settled in but its up to speed now..

I've noticed prices are a lil cheaper as well.. could this be because of the new building?

uhoh, looks like they'll be getting more of my cash. And it's so damn close to my house.

yeah it has taken a little time to get settled in, but we are getting better every day. I have quit my old day job and am here all the time focusing on getting the store and most importantly the drum and bass section back to where I like to see it.
Nothing worse than going to a store and seeing the same shit everytime. So I assure you it will get better, just taking a bit of time and effort that's all.

Speaking of new stuff, we got a huge shipment in yesterday and a shipment twice as large is expected on monday (all drum and bass).
So come in and I will sort you out.
