I am looking at getting a new software program so I can do my own music, I am heavily into techno/trance/dnb. I am looking at a program in which I can
a) make my own music
b) mix music around and change accordingly

Any suggestions as to which way I go. What I want to achieve is produce my music through one of these programs, then play this shit live through DJ Traktor Studio. BTW is this the best live DJ software out there?

I imagine Cubase will get you to pro-sounding stuff sooner, but it's also probably more complicated.

Never used the Adobe program.

Traktor is pretty good if you like computer mixing.

Cubase is definetly the more 'pro' choice here imo.......with that being said im pretty biased because I use it, and I've never actually used Adobe....But I think unless your incorporating or doing alot of video work along side of audio, I'd say Cubase is ur best bet.....Im prety sure you can't demo Cubase, but im sure Adobe probably has a demo for u to try it out and see for yourself how u get on with it-

ahhh derp.

Hey isn't Adobe audition just kewl Edit pro after Adobe bought em out.

If it is we use this progy at the radio statoin studio to produce comercials.

Very very easy to use and extremly straight foward. basically its idiot proof.

but.

if you want to produce music I really wouldn't recomend it.

Yeah its like sound forge. You can cut shit up in it then swing out into to multi-track mode and arrange. It comes with some on board effects you know your basic shit.

its got a clip restoration tool, pop hiss and click eliminator.

ehhh its alright I've actually never tried to make music with it persay but I know Terance and james use it to cut beats.

I don't think it has a sequencer in it?

But like I said I have only used it to produce commercials and PSAs and bumpers and shit.

it was tight this one time me and Dustin used kewl edit and final scratch to make this bumper with the stations call letters. We recorded us saying the call leters and then loaded that into final scratch and D scratched us saying the call letters.

Its super swank. You can catch it on the air now.

lol

Yeah I'd probably stab my mom in the face for a final scratch rig.

Cubase, but be prepared for a learning curve if you've never used it. It does a LOT, and it takes a while to figure it all out. Very powerful piece of software that lets you sequence, run software synths, record and manipulate audio.

Cool info!!!!! I went with Cubase, found it second hand Cubase ver 2.0 at a second hand shop for $360 AUS. Original Boxes and Manuals. Playing with it at moment, gonna take forever to learn. After I installed it my jaw dropped and then the first thing that came to mind was "Fuck this is gonna take forever to learn". Looks good so far from the shit (that's what the music is at moment while learning the software), very powerful.
:D :D :D

the newest issue of Computer Music (#73) includes a small basic book on Cubase SX and a 1000 drum samples.....also included in every issue is their own software (Computer Muzys Sequencer and some VSTi's)....all pretty basic stuff but it'll get you started for about 15 bucks
